List Of PSA Number 1 Ranked Players
This article is a list of PSA men's number 1 ranked players in the Men's Squash World Rankings. The Men's Squash World Rankings are the Professional Squash Association's merit-based method for determining the world rankings in men's squash. The top-ranked player is the player who, over the previous 12 months, has garnered the most PSA ranking points. Points are awarded based on how far a player advances in tournaments and the category of those tournaments. The PSA has used a computerized system for determining the Official Men's Squash World Ranking, rankings since January 1975. An updated rankings list is released each Monday. Men's Squash World Rankings
The Men's Squash World Rankings are the official world rankings for men's Squash (sport), squash. The ranking is to rate the performance lvee of male professional squash players. It is also a merit-based method used for determining entry and seeding in men's squash tournaments. The rankings have been produced monthly then weekly since 29 August 2022. The current world number one is Ali Farag of Egypt. PSA ranking policy Players competing in PSA tournaments earn ranking points according to how far they get in the draw. The points available depend on the prize money and the draw size. The weekly rankings (issued on each Monday) are used in selecting entries to tournaments and in determining the seeds. The total number of points a player has earned in the previous 52 weeks is divided by the number of tournaments played (a minimum divisor of ten is used) to give a ranking average. Grégory Gaultier
Grégory Gaultier (born 23 December 1982, in Épinal, France) is a former professional squash player from France. He has won the 2015 World Open Squash Championship, the British Open three times, in 2007, 2014 and 2017, the Qatar Classic in 2011, the US Open twice, in 2006 and 2013, the Tournament of Champions in 2009, and the PSA World Series Finals thrice, in 2008, 2009 and 2016. World Open (squash)
The World Squash Championships are Squash (sport), squash events, which since the early 1990s have been held annually for both men and women organised by the Professional Squash Association. The men's event was first held in 1976 in London, England and the women's was inaugurated in 1976 in Brisbane, Australia. History The British Open Squash Championships, British Open had for many years been generally considered to be the sport's effective world championship, and this continued to be the case until the World Open (now called World Championship) was established. The women's World Championship was held once every two years until the early 1990s, when it became an annual event. The men's event has been held every year since 1976, except for a two-year gap in 2000 and 2001 when it was not held due primarily to difficulties in securing sponsorship. Diego Elías Chehab (born November 19, 1996, in Lima) is a squash player who represents Peru. He is the 2023–24 World Champion. In April 2023, he reached a ranking of number 1 in the world, the first South American player in squash history to do so. Career His accomplishments include winning World Junior Championships twice, British Junior Open twice, and the US Junior Open in Boys' U15, U17, and U19. Paul Daniel Coll (born 9 May 1992) is a New Zealand professional squash player. In March 2022, he became the first New Zealand man to achieve a world ranking of World No. 1. He is a two times British Open champion, having won this tournament in 2021 and 2022. Career While Coll never achieved the same success in his junior career that he would see at the professional level, his first major breakthrough came when he was ranked 31st in the world and won the $100,000 St. George's Hill Classic in Weybridge, England, as a qualifier. Ali Farag
Ali Amr Farag (; born 22 April 1992) is a former Egyptian professional squash player. He is a four-time world individual champion, having won the title in 2018–19, 2020–21, 2021–22 and 2022–23 and a four-times world team champion. He has a highest career world ranking of world No. 1 by the Professional Squash Association (PSA). Education Farag graduated from Harvard University in 2014 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Farag also graduated as one of the best squash players in college history, suffering only two defeats in his three years. Karim Abdel Gawad (; born 30 July 1991) is an Egyptian professional squash player. He is a former world individual champion and world number 1 and a three-times world team champion. Career In November 2016, he won the 2016 World Open Squash Championship in Cairo in Egypt against Ramy Ashour. He became the third Egyptian to win the World Championship after Amr Shabana and Ashour. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 1 in May 2017. Mohamed El Shorbagy (, born 12 January 1991) is an Egyptian-English professional squash player. He represented Egypt from a young age until June 2022, when he switched to represent England. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 1 in November 2014, March 2018, February 2020, and again in July 2021 and was the 2017 World Squash champion.
