Miss Earth
Miss Earth is an annual international major beauty pageant based in the Philippines that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation and social responsibility. Along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International, it is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. Since 2002, the pageant has been mostly held in the Philippines with live international telecasts in more than 80 countries via Fox Life and The Filipino Channel. Reigning titleholders dedicate their year to promoting specific projects, often addressing issues concerning the environment and other global challenges through school tours, tree planting activities, street campaigns, cleanups, speaking engagements, shopping mall tours, media guesting, environmental fairs, storytelling programs to children, eco-fashion shows, and other environmentally oriented activities. Choluteca, Choluteca
Choluteca is a municipality and the capital city of the Honduran department of the same name. Situated in southern Honduras between El Salvador and Nicaragua, the city is generally considered the regional centre of southern Honduras and is a major transit point on the Pan-American Highway. It has a major bus station and is home to the regional light (ENEE) and water (SANAA) utilities. The city is located on the Choluteca River, near the centre of the department. Nuestra Belleza Chile is an annual beauty pageant in Chile. The winner of Nuestra Belleza Chile obtains the right to represent the country in the Miss Earth pageant, an annual international major beauty pageant that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility. The reigning titleholder is Romina Denecken van der Veen who competed in Miss Earth 2021 and finished as Miss Earth Water. That is the first time Chile was able to get an elemental title after Hil Hernandez' win in 2006. History 2002-2011: Early years Chile debut in Miss Earth in 2002. Castro is a city and commune on Chiloé Island in Chile. Castro is the capital of the Chiloé Province in the Los Lagos Region. The city is located on Estero de Castro on the eastern coast of central Chiloé Island. Hil Yesenia Hernández Escobar (born 1 December 1984) is a Chilean journalist, model, environmentalist, and beauty queen who won Miss Earth 2006 pageant becoming the first Chilean to win the coveted crown. Personal life Hernández was born in Castro, Chile on 1 December 1984. She spent her childhood years in the Chiloé Island, the second-largest island in South America. The youngest of three children, her father died when she was young. She was raised by her mother, Yorki Escobar. Hernández studied tourism and took up modelling, then advanced her studies in Journalism. She once spent a month working as a model in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. Miss Earth 2006
Miss Earth 2006, the 6th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 26, 2006, at the grounds of the National Museum of the Philippines, National Museum in Manila, Philippines. The pageant was won by Hil Hernández of Chile and crowned by outgoing titleholder, Miss Earth 2005, Alexandra Braun. The event was originally intended to be held in Santiago, Chile on 15 November, and would be the first Miss Earth pageant outside of the Philippines and as well in Asia, but the Chilean organizers did not meet requirements. In the end, pageant owners Carousel Productions decided to hold the pageant in the Philippines, where all previous Miss Earth pageants had been held, despite having less than two months to prepare for the event. Miss Earth 2005, the 5th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on October 23, 2005, in Quezon City, Philippines. A total of 80 candidates from around the globe took part in the event. At the conclusion of the pageant, Alexandra Braun of Venezuela was crowned Miss Earth 2005 by outgoing titleholder, Miss Earth 2004, Priscilla Meirelles of Brazil. Miss Terra Brasil (in native language, or ''Miss Earth Brazil'') is an annual national beauty pageant realized in Brazil to select its entrant in the Miss Earth pageant. History 2001-2007: Beleza Brazil Miss Terra Brasil is the official preliminary of the international Miss Earth beauty pageant in Brazil.
