Miss Earth is an annual international major beauty pageant based in the Philippines that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation and social responsibility. Along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International, it is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. Since 2002, the pageant has been mostly held in the Philippines with live international telecasts in more than 80 countries via Fox Life and The Filipino Channel. Choluteca is a municipality and the capital city of the Honduran department of the same name. Situated in southern Honduras between El Salvador and Nicaragua, the city is generally considered the regional centre of southern Honduras and is a major transit point on the Pan-American Highway. Nuestra Belleza Chile is an annual beauty pageant in Chile. The winner of Nuestra Belleza Chile obtains the right to represent the country in the Miss Earth pageant, an annual international major beauty pageant that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility. The reigning titleholder is Romina Denecken van der Veen who competed in Miss Earth 2021 and finished as Miss Earth Water. Miss Earth 2006
Miss Earth 2006, the 6th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 26, 2006, at the grounds of the National Museum of the Philippines, National Museum in Manila, Philippines. The pageant was won by Hil Hernández of Chile and crowned by outgoing titleholder, Miss Earth 2005, Alexandra Braun. The event was originally intended to be held in Santiago, Chile on 15 November, and would be the first Miss Earth pageant outside of the Philippines and as well in Asia, but the Chilean organizers did not meet requirements. In the end, pageant owners Carousel Productions decided to hold the pageant in the Philippines, where all previous Miss Earth pageants had been held, despite having less than two months to prepare for the event. Miss Earth 2005, the 5th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on October 23, 2005, in Quezon City, Philippines. A total of 80 candidates from around the globe took part in the event.
