Disney Interactive Studios
Disney Interactive Studios, Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher owned by The Walt Disney Company through Disney Interactive. Prior to its closure in 2016, it developed and distributed multi-platform video games and interactive entertainment worldwide. Most of the games released by Disney Interactive Studios were typically tie-in products to existing character franchises. On May 10, 2016, as a result of the discontinuation of its '' Disney Infinity'' series, Disney shut down Disney Interactive Studios, and exited the first-party home console game development business in order to focus on third-party development of home console video games through other developers. Avalon Interactive Group, Ltd., formerly known as Virgin Interactive Entertainment, was a British video game distributor based within Europe that formerly traded as the video game publishing and distributing division of British conglomerate the Virgin Group. During the company's time under the Virgin brand, they had developed and published games for major platforms and employed video game developer, developers, including Westwood Studios co-founder Brett Sperry and ''Earthworm Jim (video game), Earthworm Jim'' creators David Perry (game developer), David Perry and Doug TenNapel. Disney's Hercules (video Game)
''Hercules'' (also known as ''Disney's Hercules'', ''Disney's Hercules Action Game'', ''Hercules Action Game'', ''Disney's Action Game Featuring Hercules'', and ''Disney's Action Game Featuring Disney's Hercules'' in Europe) is a 1997 platform video game developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software. It is based on the 1997 film of the same name. Disney's Pocahontas (video Game)
''Pocahontas'' is a1996 platform game based on the 1995 animated film of the same name. The Genesis / Mega Drive version was developed by Funcom on contract with Disney and was released on January 1, 1996. It was followed by a later version for the Game Boy developed by Tiertex Design Studios and released on June 10, 1996, nearly a year after the film's premiere. ''Disney's Pinocchio'' is a platform puzzle adventure game created as a collaboration between Disney Interactive and Virgin Interactive Entertainment. It was released in 1996 for the Game Boy, Super NES, and Sega Genesis and is based on Walt Disney's animated feature film ''Pinocchio'', originally released in 1940. The game was published by Capcom in Japan on the same year. A Sega 32X version of the game was made and completed, but was not released due to the add-on's limited popularity. Storyline The game uses intertitles between levels to convey the story, in the form of a children's storybook. Pinocchio travels from home and must choose to go to School or Easy Street (though the choice does not affect the level order). ''Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow'' – originally released as ''Donald in Maui Mallard'' – is a platforming video game developed and published by Disney Interactive. ''Toy Story'' is a 1995 platform game published by Disney Interactive for the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, and Microsoft Windows. It is based on the 1995 film of the same name. Gameplay Players control Woody through several stages that encompass the entire plot of the film. Several obstacles lie between the player and the goal of each level, including an assortment of enemies. Woody is equipped with a pullstring whip, which will temporarily tie up opponents, letting Woody pass by unharmed. It cannot, however, kill enemies (with the lone exception of Nightmare Buzz, the only boss in the game to be permanently defeated through the whip). This whip can also latch onto certain hooks, letting Woody swing above perilous terrain. The game occasionally changes genres for a stage.
