Brazilian People
Brazilians (, ) are the citizens of Brazil. A Brazilian can also be a person born abroad to a Brazilian parent or legal guardian as well as a person who acquired Brazilian citizenship. Brazil is a multiethnic society, which means that it is home to people of many ethnic origins. Being Brazilian is a civic phenomenon, rather than an ethnic one. As a result, the degree to which Brazilian citizens identify with their ancestral roots varies significantly depending on the individual, the region of the country, and the specific ethnic origins in question. Most often, however, the idea of ethnicity as it is understood in the anglophone world is not popular in the country. Boris Casoy
Boris Casoy (born February 13, 1941) is a Brazilian journalist, the son of Russian Jewish immigrant parents. He has spent most of his professional life in TV journalism and is currently a Brazilian TV news anchorman. Career Casoy's journalism career started when he worked as a reporter for the now defunct television network TV Tupi in 1961. During the 1960s, in the early phases of the military dictatorship in Brazil, he was charged by the press with belonging to a paramilitary right-wing organization, Commando for Communist Hunting ('' Comando de Caça aos Comunistas'', CCC) which was aimed at harassing and bullying leftist students. From 1974 to 1984, Casoy worked in the Paulista newspaper, '' Folha de S.Paulo'' - firstly as chief editor, a position in which he had to share power with the redaction director, the Trotskyist sympathizer Cláudio Abramo. Coelho Neto
Henrique Maximiano Coelho Neto (February 20, 1864 – November 28, 1934) was a Brazilian writer and politician. He founded and occupied the second chair of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, from 1897 until his death in 1934. He was also the president of the aforementioned Academy in 1926. Life Coelho Neto was born in the city of Caxias, Maranhão, on February 20, 1864. His father was Portuguese, and his mother was an indigenous woman, Ana Silvestre Coelho. At six years of age, his parents moved to Rio de Janeiro. He began his education at the Externato of the Colégio Pedro II. He attempted medical school but soon gave up. In 1883 he enrolled at the University of São Paulo School of Law, living in the boarding house where also lived Raul Pompeia, who attended the Academy of São Paulo at that time. Cristiana Lôbo
Cristiana dos Santos Mendes Lôbo (August 18, 1957 — November 11, 2021) was a Brazilian journalist who worked for GloboNews. Career Lôbo was born in Goiânia, and studied Social Communication at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). She entered the profession writing sporadically for Folha de Goiás, a local newspaper in Goiânia. In 1978, she was hired as an intern for the policy editor. A year later, she went to the ''O Globo'' branch in Brasília. Still in the country's capital, Lôbo was a sector reporter for several ministries for two years. Francisco de Assis Pinheiro, known professionally as Chico Pinheiro (born 17 June 1953, in Santa Maria), is a Brazilian newscaster and journalist. He is the current editor-in-chief and anchorman of Bom Dia Brasil, the Brazilian news program, aired by Rede Globo. Career Pinheiro was born in Rio Grande do Sul, but moved to his parents' home state of Minas Gerais as a baby. He graduated in journalism by PUC Minas and began his career in Diário de Minas, Jornal do Brasil and TV Globo Minas. Claudio Júlio Tognolli (1963 – 3 March 2024) was a Brazilian journalist, musician and writer. He was a professor of journalism at the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo ('' Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo'', ECA/USP) and a board member at the Associação Brasileira de Jornalismo Investigativo. Tognolli started his reporting career at '' Veja'' magazine. Ciro Pessoa Mendes Corrêa (12 June 1957 – 5 May 2020), also known by his Dharma name Tenzin Chöpel, was a Brazilian singer who was one of the founding members of the influential rock band Titãs. He was also known for his work with pioneering post-punk/gothic rock band Cabine C. He formed numerous other short-lived and lesser known projects throughout the early to mid-1990s before beginning a solo career in 2003. Carlos Heitor Cony
Carlos Heitor Cony (March 14, 1926 – January 5, 2018) was a Brazilian journalist and writer. He was a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters (Portuguese: Academia Brasileira de Letras). Cony viewed himself as center-leftist and faced persecution under the military government in the 1960s. Four of his works were adapted to movies. Cláudio Abramo (April 6, 1923, in São Paulo – August 14, 1987, in São Paulo) was a Brazilian journalist and author. Born to Vincenzo Abramo and Iole Scarmagnan (daughter of Italian anarchist Bortolo Scarmagnan), his siblings are Athos Abramo, the Trotskyst activist Fúlvio Abramo, Beatriz Abramo, the actress Lélia Abramo, Mário Abramo and the engraver Livio Abramo. He was married to Hilde Weber, a cartoonist, who gave him a son, Claudio Weber Abramo(1946–2018), former executive director of the organization Transparência Brasil and a famous opponent of political corruption in Brazil.
