Anwar Hossain (photographer)
Anwar Hossain (6 October 1948 – 1 December 2018) was a Bangladeshi photographer and cinematographer. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Cinematography a record five times for the films Sundori (1979), Emiler Goenda Bahini (1980), Puraskar (1983), Anya Jibon (1995) and Lalsalu (2003). Early life and education Hossain was born in Old Dhaka in 1948. He completed his SSC from Armanitola Government High School and HSC from Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 1965 and 1967 respectively. He graduated in architecture from BUET and a diploma in cinematography from the Film and Television Institute of Pune, India. Career Hossain started his photography career in 1967. His photography captured the Liberation War of Bangladesh. Hossain worked as a cinematographer of total 15 fictions and 30 documentary films. Munir Uz Zaman is a Bangladeshi photographer. Biography Munir Uz Zaman works for the Paris-based international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP). He has received recognition and awards for his works documenting the Rohingya refugee crisis. He has also published photos depicting daily life in Bangladesh. His photo of Tashnuva Anan Shishir, Bangladesh's first transgender news anchor, seated in the Boishakhi Television newsroom, flanked by her colleagues, was selected as one of ''Time (magazine), Time's'' top 100 photos of 2021. Munem Wasif ( bn, মুনেম ওয়াসিফ) (born 11 April 1983) is a photographer from Bangladesh. Biography Munem Wasif is a documentary photographer in Bangladesh. He has been represented by Agence Vu since 2008, and is now teaching documentary photography at Pathshala South Asian Media Academy. He was selected for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass in 2007. In 2008, he won the City of Perpignan Young Reporter's Award at Visa pour l'image. That year, he also won the International Award for concerned photography, the F25 for under-25's in the Fabrica awards. Rashid Talukder
Rashid Talukder (24 October 1939 – 25 October 2011) was a Bangladeshi photojournalist for '' The Daily Ittefaq'', most known for capturing some of the defining images of the genocide during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. Talukder was a founder of the Bangladesh Photo Journalists' Association. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Chobi Mela, an international photography festival in Dhaka, in 2006, and the 2010 the 'Pioneer Photographer Award' given by National Geographic magazine. Bijon Sarkar ( bn, বিজন সরকার) (11 April 1935 – 29 November 2012) was a Bangladeshi photographer. Life and work He was born on 11 April 1935, in Gaibandha, Bangladesh, the son of Gouranath Sarkar. Bijon Sarkar left home for Dhaka after his parents died and his ancestral land was lost in river erosion. Bijon had his first lessons in photography from his elder brother Tarapodo Sarkar, who was a self-taught sculptor but pursued photography at leisure. His first professional training in photography was while he participated in the workshop conducted by photographer Manzoor Alam Beg in 1961. Sarkar's career in photography took off after his appointment at the Pakistan's Geological Survey in 1962. Seven years later, he joined Pakistan Television as a cameraman. Sayeeda Khanam (29 December 1937 – 18 August 2020) was the first female professional photographer of Bangladesh. She covered many important events of Bangladesh Liberation War, Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 through her photography. Early life and education Khanam was born in Pabna District in the then Bengal Presidency (now Bangladesh). She is the youngest among her two brothers and four sisters. Her interest in photography began at a very early age when her sister bought her a Rolleicord camera. She never received any institutional training on photography, but learned from foreign photography magazines which were given to her by the owner of Jaidi's studio, a studio of Dhaka.
