Bijon Sarkar
Bijon Sarkar ( bn, বিজন সরকার) (11 April 1935 – 29 November 2012) was a Bangladeshi photographer. Life and work He was born on 11 April 1935, in Gaibandha, Bangladesh, the son of Gouranath Sarkar. Bijon Sarkar left home for Dhaka after his parents died and his ancestral land was lost in river erosion. Bijon had his first lessons in photography from his elder brother Tarapodo Sarkar, who was a self-taught sculptor but pursued photography at leisure. His first professional training in photography was while he participated in the workshop conducted by photographer Manzoor Alam Beg in 1961. Sarkar's career in photography took off after his appointment at the Pakistan's Geological Survey in 1962. Seven years later, he joined Pakistan Television as a cameraman. The television authority sacked him after the War of Independence began in 1971, forcing Sarkar to take refuge in India. Munem Wasif
Munem Wasif ( bn, মুনেম ওয়াসিফ) (born 11 April 1983) is a photographer from Bangladesh. Biography Munem Wasif is a documentary photographer in Bangladesh. He has been represented by Agence Vu since 2008, and is now teaching documentary photography at Pathshala South Asian Media Academy. He was selected for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass in 2007. In 2008, he won the City of Perpignan Young Reporter's Award at Visa pour l'image. That year, he also won the International Award for concerned photography, the F25 for under-25's in the Fabrica awards. The following year, he was awarded the Prix Pictet commission for his work on the water crisis of the north-west region of Bangladesh. Photogram
A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The usual result is a negative shadow image that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed for a shorter time or through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey, while fully exposed areas are black in the final print. The technique is sometimes called cameraless photography. It was used by Man Ray in his exploration of rayographs. Other artists who have experimented with the technique include László Moholy-Nagy, Christian Schad (who called them "Schadographs"), Imogen Cunningham and Pablo Picasso. Chobi Mela (Film Fair) is a biennial international festival of photography held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the first and also the largest festival of photography held in Asia. Description The outreach program consisted of mobile exhibitions An exhibition, in the most general sense, is an organized presentation and display of a selection of items. In practice, exhibitions usually occur within a cultural or educational setting such as a museum, art gallery, park, library, exhibiti ... which went to schools, playgrounds, marketplaces. The exhibitions were accompanied by community liaison staff who explained the context of the show to viewers.
