Building Information Modeling
Building information modeling (BIM) is an approach involving the generation and management of digital representations of the physical and functional characteristics of buildings or other physical assets and facilities. BIM is supported by various tools, processes, technologies and contracts. Building information models (BIMs) are computer files (often but not always in proprietary formats and containing proprietary data) which can be extracted, exchanged or networked to support decision-making regarding a built asset. BIM software is used by individuals, businesses and government agencies who plan, Building design, design, construction, construct, operate and maintain buildings and diverse hard infrastructure, physical infrastructures, such as water, refuse, electricity, gas, communication utilities, roads, railways, bridges, ports and tunnels. The concept of BIM has been in development since the 1970s, but it only became an agreed term in the early 2000s. The development of sta ...

Dassault Systèmes
Dassault Systèmes SE () (abbreviated 3DS) is a French Multinational corporation, multinational software corporation which develops software for 3D product design, simulation, manufacturing and other 3D related products. Founded in 1981, it is headquartered in Vélizy-Villacoublay, France, and has 23,811 employees across 194 global offices. History 1980s Dassault Systèmes (also known as 3DS) grew out of the aerospace industry's search for more sophisticated drafting tools to streamline the development process and aid in the increasing complexity of aviation design. Dassault Systèmes spun out in 1981 (as part of Dassault Group) to develop and market their 3D surface design software CATI, later renamed CATIA. That same year, Dassault Systèmes signed a sales and marketing agreement with IBM, allowing IBM to resell the CATIA Computer-aided design, CAD software. 1990s In the 1990s, Dassault Systèmes' software was used to develop seven out of every ten new airplanes and fo ...

BIMx
BIMx is a set of desktop and mobile software tools to interactively present the 3D model and 2D documentation of Building Information Models created with ArchiCAD through a much simpler and intuitive interface than ArchiCAD's complex BIM authoring environment's UI. 3D models with 2D drawing sheets exported to BIMx document format can be viewed with native viewer applications developed for Apple iOS, Android, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. BIMx presents three dimensional building models in an interactive way similar to First-person shooter video games. Clients, consultants and builders can virtually walk through and make measurements in the 3D model without the need for installing ArchiCAD. The real-time cutaway function can help to discover the construction details of the displayed building model. 2D construction documentation can be accessed directly from the BIMx Hyper-model's 3D model views providing more detailed information about the building. BIMx aut ...

Linux
Linux ( ) is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an kernel (operating system), operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991, by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically package manager, packaged as a Linux distribution (distro), which includes the kernel and supporting system software and library (computing), libraries—most of which are provided by third parties—to create a complete operating system, designed as a clone of Unix and released under the copyleft GPL license. List of Linux distributions, Thousands of Linux distributions exist, many based directly or indirectly on other distributions; popular Linux distributions include Debian, Fedora Linux, Linux Mint, Arch Linux, and Ubuntu, while commercial distributions include Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise, and ChromeOS. Linux distributions are frequently used in server platforms. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free ...

FreeCAD
FreeCAD is a general-purpose Solid_modeling#Parametric_modeling, parametric 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeler and a building information modeling (BIM) software application with finite element method (FEM) support. It is intended for mechanical engineering product design but also expands to a wider range of uses around engineering, such as architecture or electrical engineering. FreeCAD is free and open-source software, free and open-source, under the GNU Lesser General Public License, LGPL-2.0-or-later license, and available for Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems. Users can extend the functionality of the software using the Python (programming language), Python programming language. Features General FreeCAD features tools similar to CATIA, Creo (design software), Creo, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Siemens NX, NX, Autodesk Inventor, Inventor, Autodesk Revit, Revit, and therefore also falls into the category of building information modeling (BIM), mechanical computer-ai ...

FINE MEP
FINE MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) is a building information modeling (BIM) computer-aided design (CAD) software tool for building services engineering design, built on the '' IntelliCAD'' CAD editor and development platform. It provides full Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) support, according to the 2x3 IFC Standard. FINE BIM structure, enables smart model shaping and high design accuracy, directly applied to the real 3D-building model and its building services (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), water supply, sewerage, electricity). All building elements (walls, openings, roofs, etc.), and components of the mechanical and electrical installations (pipes, heating units, fittings, cables, etc.) can be intelligent objects carrying their own attributes and interacting among each other. MEP design is supported by specific CAD commands (smart location of units/appliances, auto-routing commands for pipes/cables, etc.) and further facilitated through sophist ...

Digital Project
Digital Project is a computer-aided design (CAD) software application based on CATIA V5 and developed by Gehry Technologies, a technology company owned by the architect Frank Gehry. Among the changes made by Gehry Technologies to CATIA is a new visual interface suitable for architecture work. With the release of version R5 Digital Project is compatible with CATIA V5R22. Digital Project is widely known as the software used to design the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, and the Louis Vuitton Foundation. Digital Project (like CATIA) enables information to be sent directly to manufacturer, rather than needing to be processed separately in preparation for sending out of house. On their website Gehry Technology list the following functionality in their DigitalProject:Designer product: generative surfaces design, project organization, parametric 3D surfaces, free-style surface modeling (NURBS), design to fabrication, dynamic sectioning, revision tracking and part comparison, advanced solid ...

DataCAD
DataCAD is a computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software for 2D and 3D architectural design and drafting, developed and sold by DATACAD LLC. Usage DataCAD runs exclusively on Microsoft Windows-based operating systems, and was one of the first PC-based CADD programs developed specifically for architects. DataCAD is the only CADD software ever to be endorsed by the American Institute of Architects (ca. 1987) for direct distribution to its members. By 1988, DataCAD was in use by more than 12,000 firms in the United States and Canada. Currently, there are estimated to be more than 250,000 installations of DataCAD worldwide. According to ''The 1989 AIA Firm Survey Report'', DataCAD is used by 10% of AIA member firms, second only to AutoCAD with a 45% market share. According to ''The 1997 AIA Firm Survey Report'', DataCAD is used by 12% of AIA member firms, second only to AutoCAD with a 61% market share.Kermit Baker and Pradeep Dalal: "1997 AIA Firm Survey Report.", page 72. ...

CodeBook
A codebook is a type of document used for gathering and storing cryptography codes. Originally, codebooks were often literally , but today "codebook" is a byword for the complete record of a series of codes, regardless of physical format. Cryptography In cryptography, a codebook is a document used for implementing a code. A codebook contains a lookup table for coding and decoding; each word or phrase has one or more strings which replace it. To decipher messages written in code, corresponding copies of the codebook must be available at either end. The distribution and physical security of codebooks presents a special difficulty in the use of codes compared to the secret information used in ciphers, the key, which is typically much shorter. The United States National Security Agency documents sometimes use ''codebook'' to refer to block ciphers; compare their use of ''combiner-type algorithm'' to refer to stream ciphers. Codebooks come in two forms, one-part or two-part: * ...
