Portrait
A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expressions are predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer. History Prehistorical portraiture Plastered human skulls were reconstructed human skulls that were made in the ancient Levant between 9000 and 6000 BC in the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B period. They represent some of the oldest forms of art in the Middle East and demonstrate that the prehistoric population took great care in burying their ancestors below their homes. Tim Winton
Timothy John Winton (born 4 August 1960) is an Australian writer. He has written novels, children's books, non-fiction books, and short stories. In 1997, he was named a Living Treasure by the National Trust of Australia, and has won the Miles Franklin Award four times. David Stratton
David James Stratton (born 10 September 1939) is an English-Australian award-winning film critic, as both a journalist and interviewer, film historian and lecturer and television personality and producer. Life and career Born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, in 1939, Stratton was sent to Hampshire to see out the war years with his grandmother, an avid filmgoer, where he was taken to the local cinemas regularly and saw a diverse range of movies. He attended Chafyn Grove School from 1948 to 1953 as a boarder. He saw his first foreign film at Bath in 1955— Italian romantic comedy '' Bread, Love and Dreams''. Fiona Pardington
Fiona Dorothy Pardington (born 1961) is a New Zealand artist, her principal medium being photography. Early life and education Pardington was born Fiona Dorothy Cameron in Devonport, and was brought up on Auckland's Hibiscus Coast, where she attended Orewa College.New Zealand Photography from the 1840s to the present, William Main, John B. Hetti Perkins
Hetti Kemerre Perkins (born 1965) is an art curator and writer. She is the eldest daughter of Australian Aboriginal activist Charles Perkins and German Eileen Munchenberg, a granddaughter of Hetty Perkins, sister to film director Rachel Perkins and brother Adam Perkins, and mother to actress Madeleine Madden. Hetti Perkins is an Eastern Arrernte and Kalkadoon woman from Central Australia, she attended Melrose High School in Canberra, with her sister. Hetti Perkins was the curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney for thirteen years, but resigned from the job in 2011. She was a member of the International Selection Committee for the Biennale of Sydney in 2000. Cortnee Brooke Vine (born 9 April 1998) is an Australian soccer player who plays for Sydney FC, having previously played for the Western Sydney Wanderers, the Brisbane Roar and the Newcastle Jets, all in the W-League. She represented Australia at under-17 and under-20 level before making her senior debut at the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup. Starting her career as a winger on the right flank, she can perform equally well in defence as a full-back. Cheng Lei (journalist)
Cheng Lei (; born 1975) is a Chinese-born Australian television news anchor and business reporter. She served as a prominent news anchor for Chinese state owned English-language news channel China Global Television Network (CGTN) in Beijing from 2012 to 2020 and also hosted the ''Global Business'' program which airs on CGTN. She had previously worked for nine years as CNBC's China correspondent. In September 2020, after she had been detained by Chinese authorities in mid-August, a government official said Cheng Lei was "suspected of carrying out criminal activities endangering China’s national security", but no details about the accusations were provided. The International Federation of Journalists said her detention was "without cause or reason" and "deeply concerning". Claire Healy And Sean Cordeiro
Claire Healy (born 1971) and Sean Cordeiro (born 1974) are a partnership of contemporary Australian artists best known for their large-scale installations. They have exhibited in Japan, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany and across Australia. They won the 2022 Sir John Sulman Prize for ''Raiko and Shuten-dōji.'' Career Healy was born in Melbourne. She met Sean Cordeiro at the University of New South Wales while completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997. They began exhibiting collaboratively in 2001 and both went on to complete a Master of Fine Arts in 2004. They were founding members of the artist-run space Imperial Slacks in Sydney which ran from 1999 to 2003. They currently live in the Blue Mountains. Anthony Field
Anthony Donald Joseph Field, AM (born 8 May 1963) is an Australian musician, actor, songwriter and producer. He is best known as a leader of the children's group the Wiggles and a member of the 1980s and 1990s pop band the Cockroaches. While still a teenager, he helped found the Cockroaches with his brothers, Paul and John. The Cockroaches recorded two albums and enjoyed moderate success, interrupted by Field's service in Australia's regular army, until they disbanded in the late 1980s. Field attended Macquarie University to receive training in early childhood education, and founded the Wiggles with fellow students Murray Cook, Greg Page and former bandmate Jeff Fatt in 1991. Joshua Heuston (born 18 November 1996) is an Australian actor and model. Guido Maestri (born in Mudgee, New South Wales in 1974) is an Australian contemporary artist who won the 2009 Archibald Prize for a portrait of Australian singer and musician Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Art School in Darlinghurst in 2003 and was a finalist in the 2007 and 2008 Dobell Drawing Prize.
