The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE; ) is a financial institution, located in Taipei 101, in Taipei, Taiwan. The TWSE was established in 1961 and began operating as a stock exchange on 9 February 1962. It is regulated by the Financial Supervisory Commission. As of 31 December 2013, the Taiwan Stock Exchange had 809 listed companies with a combined market capitalization of NT$ 24,519,622 million. The exchange broadcasts before-hour information from 7:40 to 8:40. Then it has normal trading sessions from 09:00 to 13:45 and fixed price post-market sessions from 14:00 to 15:00 on all days of the week except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays declared by the exchange in advance. Gre Tai Securities Market
Taipei Exchange (), formerly the GreTai Securities Market (GTSM), is a non-profit foundation set up to manage over-the-counter (OTC) market and bond trading in Taiwan. It was founded on 1 November 1994. The initial fund of the foundation was contributed by the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taiwan Securities Association, and Taiwan Depository & Clearing. Its headquarters is in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei City. In February 2015, the Gre Tai Securities Market changed its name to Taipei Exchange. The exchange has normal trading sessions from 9 am to 2 pm and post-market sessions from 2 pm to 2.30 pm on all days of the week except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance. The Taiwan Top50 Tracker Fund or TTT is an exchange-traded fund holding Taiwan stocks. The fund tracks the FTSE TWSE Taiwan 50 Index. History On August 19, 2009, Taiwan 50 (HKEx: 3002) was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, becoming the first Taiwan ETF with cross-border listing in Hong Kong. On October 20, 2010, Taiwan Futures Exchange (TFE) announced Taiwan 50 as a marketable security for margin calls on futures transactions. After going ex-dividend on October 25 of the same year, the Taiwan 50 completed its dividend fill in 11 trading days, as foreign investors targeted large-capitalization stocks for buying. In capital markets, volume, or trading volume, is the amount (total number) of a security (or a given set of securities, or an entire market) that was traded during a given period of time. In the context of a single stock trading on a stock exchange, the volume is commonly reported as the number of shares that changed hands during a given day. The transactions are measured on stocks, bonds, options contracts, futures contracts and commodities. The average volume of a security over a longer period of time is the total amount traded in that period, divided by the length of the period. Therefore, the unit of measurement for average volume is shares per unit of time, typically per trading day.
