The following is a list of suicides attributed to bullying — both in-person and via the Internet (aka cyberbullying). Victims * August Ames (1994–2017) (born Mercedes Grabowski), age 23, was a Canadian pornographic actor and model. On December 5, 2017, Ames was found dead after hanging herself. Her death was ruled a suicide by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office. Media outlets have insinuated Ames died by suicide following successive comments on Twitter, in which she defended her refusal to perform in a pornographic movie with a man who had previously worked in gay pornography, and sparking an "online firestorm". Suicide
Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Risk factors for suicide include mental disorders, physical disorders, and substance abuse. Some suicides are impulsive acts driven by stress (such as from financial or academic difficulties), relationship problems (such as breakups or divorces), or harassment and bullying. Those who have previously attempted suicide are at a higher risk for future attempts. Effective suicide prevention efforts include limiting access to methods of suicide such as firearms, drugs, and poisons; treating mental disorders and substance abuse; careful media reporting about suicide; improving economic conditions; and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). LGBT Bullying
Bullying of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) people, particularly LGBT youth vulnerability, LGBTQ youth, involves intentional actions toward the victim, repeated negative actions by one or more people against another person, and an imbalance of physical or psychological power. LGBTQ youth are more likely to report bullying than non-LGBTQ youth.
