Babili Amos Shili (born 17 January 1995) mononymously known as Aymos, is a South African singer and songwriter. He is best known for the hit single "Emcimbini" which was produced by Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa. Early life Aymos was born and bred in Thembisa, Gauteng, South African. He started out by singing at church and in high school, he formed his own choir. Career In 2020, Aymos released a collaborative album with Mas Musiq titled ''Shonamalanga''. The album was nominated at the 27th South African Music Awards for best amapiano album and best duo/group of the year. In September 2021, he released his debut album ''Yimi Lo''. Boo! (band)
Boo! is a South African band. They describe their music as "Monki Punk". Originally Boo! consisted of three members; the cross-dressing "Miss" Chris Chameleon on bass guitar and lead vocals, Leon Retief on drums and Ampie Omo, filled in the rest of the sounds on trumpet, trombone, keyboard and percussion instruments. All music and lyrics were composed by Chris Chameleon. The band disbanded in 2004, but reformed in February 2010. History Boo! entered the South African music scene in October 1997, but grew especially famous in Europe. They acquired a worldwide following by performing 800 concerts in 17 countries, including 14 states in the United States. Bongo Maffin is a South African kwaito music group, formed by Zimbabwe-born DJ Jah Seed in Johannesburg in 1996. They released their first studio album, ''Leaders of D’Gong'' (1997), followed by ''The Concerto'' (1998), ''Bongolution'' (2001), and ''New Construction'' (2005). Jan Adriaan Hoogendyk, known professionally as Elvis Blue, is a South African musician and songwriter. Early life Jan Hoogendyk was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. Hoogendyk is a self-taught musician, teaching himself to play the guitar at the age of 16. During his adolescent years, he started writing his own music and gained experience as a busker on the streets of Johannesburg. During high school, he played in several bands but chose to broaden his experience overseas, busking in London and Scotland. Musical education Hoogendyk's mother, a classical piano teacher, provided him with exposure to classical music throughout his childhood. BlackByrd
BlackByrd is a South Africa pop trio from Cape Town. Formed in 2012, the group currently consists of Tarryn Lamb, Axene Chaberski and Tamsyn Maker. BlackByrd’s sound is firmly rooted in pop-country with ballads about love and heartbreak. The band formed after Tarryn Lamb posted an advert on Gumtree in 2012, looking for other musicians to start an all-girl group. Within a couple of months, they were signed by EMI and released their debut album, ''Strong''. Blackbyrd disbanded prior to member, Tamsyn, passing away in 2022. On 14 May 2024, Tarryn posted on instagram that Blackbyrd will have 2 new member with Tarryn as the third. Amanda Benedicta Antony (born 24 July 1993), known professionally as Amanda Black, is a South African singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Gcuwa, her career began in 1999 at the age of 6 singing in church choirs. Amanda was a contestant on ''Idols'' South Africa season 11. Leonel Levy Lopes Bastos, better known as Lionel Bastos, was born on 16 August 1956 in Maputo, Mozambique) and is a singer, songwriter, and music producer who works mainly in South Africa. In the 1990s he was part of a band called Be Like Water, who had a radio hit called ''Don't Go On'' in 1996. The band split up but did play reunion gigs in 2013. He has released five solo albums all of which were nominated for South African Music Awards ("SAMAs"). His second album, ''Simple'', won Best Adult Contemporary Album in 1999.
