Czech Republic
The Czech Republic, or simply Czechia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Historically known as Bohemia, it is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the southeast. The Czech Republic has a hilly landscape that covers an area of with a mostly temperate continental and oceanic climate. The capital and largest city is Prague; other major cities and urban areas include Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň and Liberec. The Duchy of Bohemia was founded in the late 9th century under Great Moravia. It was formally recognized as an Imperial State of the Holy Roman Empire in 1002 and became a kingdom in 1198. Following the Battle of Mohács in 1526, the whole Crown of Bohemia was gradually integrated into the Habsburg monarchy. The Protestant Bohemian Revolt led to the Thirty Years' War. Lauder Schools Of Prague
The Lauder Schools of Prague are the only Jewish schools in Prague and in the entire Czech Republic. The schools consists of an elementary school called The Lauder Gur Arje Jewish Day School and a secondary school called The Lauder Or Chadaš Jewish Community High School. The names of the schools refer to an important figure of the Jewish Ghetto in Prague, Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel, who was also known as the Maharal of Prague and Rabbi Loew. The schools were founded in 1997 by the Prague Jewish Community together with the R. S. Lauder Foundation and the Czech ministry of education, they operate on the site of a former orphanage for Jewish children who had lost their families in the Holocaust. Education in the Czech Republic includes elementary school, secondary school, and post-secondary school. For students ages two to five, there are preschools that are generally not state-funded until the year before elementary school. After preschool, parents are not charged for tution, but they must provide, stationery, and food for their children. A number of private schools exist across the country, but these schools are largely financially inaccessible for most children. There is an ongoing national discussion regarding the introduction of tuition fees for university education. Elementary school is mandatory for children from ages six to fifteen. After that, some students leave formal education altogether, while other students attend a professional or vocational school. Gymnasium Kadaň ( cz, Gymnázium Kadaň) is a Czech regional gymnasium in the Ústí nad Labem Region of Kadaň. It is the oldest school in Kadaň and fifth oldest in Ústí nad Labem Region. The school was established in 1803 with 99 students and continued under the control of the Piarists until 1823. The institute of Gymnasium was then reestablished in 1872 in a new building. Townshend International School
Townshend International School is a private, Baháʼí-inspired International school located in Hluboká nad Vltavou in the Czech Republic. Founded in 1992, the school draws some 140 students from approximately 30 countries each year. The school uses the Cambridge curriculum at all grade levels from Kindergarten through secondary school, and is recognised as a Cambridge International Examination Centre. Prague British International School (PBIS), previously Prague British School (PBS), is a British international school in Prague, Czech Republic. It is an independent English language, multinational day school, providing British education for children aged between 20 months and 19 years. It has three campuses: the Kamýk and Libuš campuses in Prague 4, and the Vlastina campus in Liboc, Prague 6. In 1996, the school introduced the IGCSE programme.
