List Of School Districts In Louisiana
This is a list of school districts in Louisiana. Most Louisiana school districts are parish school districts while some are city school districts. The U.S. Census Bureau counts both types as independent governments. Special School District 1, which has gifted education facilities, is directly under the authority of the state government, not counted by the Census Bureau as its own government. The state does not have any public school systems directly dependent on another layer of government like a parish government or a municipal government. Bossier Parish School Board
Bossier Parish School Board is a school district headquartered in Benton, Louisiana, United States. The Superintendent of Bossier Schools is, as of 2024, Jason Rowland. The district serves all of Bossier Parish. History The first school built by Bossier Parish School Board was Benton High School in 1890. By 1905 It had three teachers and one graduating class. The school taught grades 6–12 with no more than 25 students per grade, with some grades missing students. In May 1969 the Supreme Court issued Desegregation in schools. The only black school in Benton, C.H. Irion High School, became Benton Elementary School; for the first time in Bossier School History blacks and whites were able to go to the same school. Bienville Parish School Board
Bienville Parish School Board (BPSB) is a school district headquartered in Arcadia, Louisiana, Arcadia, Louisiana, United States. The district serves Bienville Parish, Louisiana, Bienville Parish. In 2012 the superintendent replaced the principals of five of the district's eight schools after encountering poor test scores. ''KTBS'' described the move as "the largest leadership change in forty years" for the school system. Beauregard Parish School Board
Beauregard Parish School Board is a school district headquartered in DeRidder, Louisiana, DeRidder in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, Beauregard Parish in southwestern Louisiana, United States. From 1933 to 1944, Gilbert Franklin Hennigan, then of DeRidder, was the school board president. In 1943, he was elected the president of the Louisiana School Board Association. He left the board to serve from 1944 to 1956 in the Louisiana State Senate. A strong advocate of public education, Hennigan worked to make McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lake Charles a four-year college and to pass legislation creating the state teacher retirement system. He died at age 77 in 1960 in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish.
