Satire is a genre of the visual arts, visual, literature, literary, and performing arts, usually in the form of fiction and less frequently Nonfiction, non-fiction, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, often with the intent of exposing or shaming the perceived flaws of individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit to draw attention to both particular and wider issues in society. Satire may also poke fun at popular themes in art and film. Infoman
''Infoman'' is a half-hour-long televised series satirizing the current events of Quebec, Canada, and the world hosted by Jean-René Dufort on Ici Radio-Canada Télé. Production details Politicians, the hot-button issues in the news, and pop culture are the subjects of the show, presented with a clean sense of humor. The show is known for its irreverence towards federal politicians. Originally airing at 7:30 on Fridays, the show moved to the Thursday slot at the beginning of 2006, then in 2007, Saturday at the same time. In its eighth season, Infoman returned to its Thursday time slot. Each week, Chantal Lamarre presents a five-minute segment wherein she complains about things which are sometimes relevant to the news. Journalist MC Gilles also has a column each week. ''Le Fric Show'' is a Canadian television series, which airs on Radio-Canada. Hosted by Marc Labrèche, the series airs a satirical mix of advocacy journalism and entertainment segments. The series has some similarities to Labrèche's earlier ''La Fin du monde est à 7 heures''. The show first aired in 2006, and was renewed for a second season in 2007. In 2007, the show collaborated with Bande à part to produce and present "0.99$", a one-off single and video by the Quebec supergroup Vauvandalou. The show was hosted by two presenters and together with the "Adrenaline girls", they rotate every three to four months. Some of the most beloved Bulgarian comedians have hosted the show. Apart from showing TV blunders, the show has developed a strong satire profile of the program, which is based on serious political and social issues within Bulgarian society. ''Greg News com Gregório Duvivier'' is a satirical late-night talk show aired on HBO Brasil. Inspired by the American ''Last Week Tonight with John Oliver'' and produced by the Porta dos Fundos collective, which includes presenter Gregório Duvivier, it premiered in May 2017. The first season had 20 half-hour episodes, ending in September. Shortly before the end, it was confirmed that the show would be renewed for two more seasons. A twenty-first episode was released on YouTube in December. The second season premiered in March 2018. Despite having HBO's usual artistic freedom, the program is strictly monitored by the broadcaster's legal department in order to avoid lawsuits. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth season had to have episodes recorded at Duvivier's house, and frequently discussed the effects of the pandemic in Brazil.
