Wojciech Kurtyka
Wojciech Kurtyka (also ''Voytek'' Kurtyka, born 25 July 1947, in Skrzynka near Kłodzko) is a Polish mountaineer and rock climber, one of the pioneers of the alpine style of climbing the biggest walls in the Greater Ranges. He lived in Wrocław up to 1974 when he moved to Kraków. He graduated as engineer in electronics (in 1973 at Wrocław University of Technology). In 1985 he climbed the "Shining Wall," the west face of Gasherbrum IV, which ''Climbing'' magazine declared to be the greatest achievement of mountaineering in the twentieth century. In 2016, he received the Piolet d'Or for lifetime achievement in mountaineering. Marek Krajewski
Marek Krajewski (born 4 September 1966, in Wrocław) is a Polish crime writer and linguist. He is best known for his series of novels set in pre-war Wrocław (which was, at the time, Breslau) with the policeman Eberhard Mock as the protagonist. His novels have been translated into 20 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Hebrew, Greek, Swedish and Russian. Urszula Kozioł (; born 20 June 1931) is a Polish poet and writer. She is a recipient of the Silesius Poetry Award (2011) and the Nike Award (2024). Biography Kozioł was born in Rakówka, a village in Poland. She attended high school in Zamość and graduated from the University of Wroclaw in 1953. Her debut poetry collection was ''Gumowe klocki'' ("Blocks of rubber", 1957), but her second, ''W rytmie korzeni'' ("In the Rhythm of the Roots", 1963), is considered her breakthrough. Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic
Transnistria, officially known as the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and locally as Pridnestrovie, is a landlocked breakaway state internationally recognized as part of Moldova. It controls most of the narrow strip of land between the Dniester river and the Moldova–Ukraine border, as well as some land on the other side of the river's bank. Aleksandr Ivanovich Korolyov (; born 24 October 1959) is a Transnistrian politician. He is of Russian ethnicity. Until 2006, he was the Minister of the Interior of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR). He started to work in the ministry of the interior of the Moldavian SSR in 1985. When the PMR declared independence on 2 September 1990, Korolev continued his work in the same post but under the new government until 2000, when he was appointed the country's minister of the interior. Ewa Klonowski (born 18 November 1946) is a Polish-Icelandic forensic anthropologist. She took political refuge in Iceland in 1981, following the declaration of martial law in the People's Republic of Poland. She has been living in Reykjavík, Iceland since 1982. In 1996, she began working on individual and mass graves exhumation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since then, she has been responsible for the excavation and identification of over 2,000 victims, and in 2005 she was nominated to the list of the 1,000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize.
