List Of Oregon Community Colleges
This is a list of colleges and universities in the U.S. state of Oregon. Seven public universities, overseen by the Oregon Office of University Coordination, are operated by boards appointed by the governor, and seventeen community colleges are operated by locally elected boards. There are also numerous private degree-granting institutions. The largest university in the state is Oregon State University (OSU), with an enrollment of just over 36,000 (2023). OSU has branch campuses in Portland, Oregon State University–Cascades, Bend and Newport. The largest institution of higher education in the state is Portland Community College, based in Southwest Portland. The college serves the state's largest metropolitan population, with branch campuses throughout Portland, and claims an enrollment of over 67,000 students (2023). Oregon Office Of University Coordination
The Oregon Office of University Coordination is the agency designated by the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC), established in 2013 under ORS § 352.002, to provide academic and fiscal coordination for seven public universities in Oregon. Beginning 2015–2016, the Office of University Coordination was authorized to process academic program approval through the HECC, make budget recommendations for public universities in Oregon, and allocate funds using a model for student success and completion. Effective July 1, 2014, three universities (University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Portland State University) broke away from the Oregon University System. Blue Mountain Community College
Blue Mountain Community College is a public community college in Pendleton, Oregon, United States. It serves Umatilla and Morrow counties as well as most of Baker County. It was established in 1962 and offers Associate of Arts degrees, Associate of Science degrees, Associate of Applied Science degrees, certificates, and transfer degrees to four-year colleges. For-profit University
Proprietary colleges are for-profit colleges and universities generally operated by their owners, investors, or shareholders in a manner prioritizing shareholder primacy as opposed to education provided by non-profit institution (such as non-sectarian, religious, or governmental organization) that prioritize students as project stakeholders. Because they are not funded by tax money, their long-term sustainability is dependent on the value they provide relative to the perceived value of a degree from a higher educational institution overall. The increased reliance on federal student aid funds by these "for-profit" schools is of growing concern. The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) is a private for-profit online college headquartered in Portland, Oregon, that specializes in holistic health education. It was founded in 1978. History ACHS began in 1976 as the extramural or distance education department of an on-campus naturopathic college in Auckland, New Zealand.
