Nicaraguans
Nicaraguans (; also called ''Nicas'') are people inhabiting in, originating or having significant heritage from Nicaragua. Most Nicaraguans live in Nicaragua, although there is also a significant Nicaraguan diaspora, particularly in Costa Rica and the United States with smaller communities in other countries around the world. There are also people living in Nicaragua who are not Nicaraguans because they were not born or raised in Nicaragua nor have they gained citizenship. Genetic makeup The genetic makeup of Nicaraguans differs from the western half of Nicaragua to the eastern half. DNA studies show that most western Nicaraguans (whites and mestizos) descend from Europeans (mostly Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese) and an Indigenous combination of Nahua, Otomanguean, and Chibcha ancestry. Carlos Pellas Chamorro is a Nicaraguan businessman. The controlling shareholder of Grupo Pellas, Pellas is Nicaragua's first billionaire. Early life and education Carlos Francisco Pellas Chamorro was born in Granada, Nicaragua, on January 10, 1953. He is the son of Alfredo Pellas Chamorro and Carmen Chamorro Benard. Pellas studied at Colegio Centroamérica. He is married to Vivian Fernández, with whom he has three children. He obtained his BA in economics and later an MBA from Stanford University. Miss Universe 2023
Miss Universe 2023 was the 72nd Miss Universe pageant, held at the Gimnasio Nacional José Adolfo Pineda in San Salvador, El Salvador, on 18 November 2023. At the conclusion of the event, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned as Miss Universe 2023 by R'Bonney Gabriel of the United States. Sheynnis Alondra Palacios Cornejo (; born 30 May 2000) is a Nicaraguan model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Universe 2023. Biography Elena Arellano Chamorro was born in the city of Granada, Nicaragua on November 3, 1836. She was the daughter of Narciso Arellano del Castillo, who served as Prime Minister of Nicaragua.
