Television New Zealand (, "Te Reo Tātaki" meaning "The Leading Voice"), more commonly referred to as TVNZ, is a New Zealand state-owned media company and Crown entity. The company operates a television network, streaming service, and news service that is available throughout New Zealand and parts of the Pacific region. All of its currently-operating channels are free-to-air and funded through advertising. TVNZ was established in February 1980 following the merger of the two government-owned television networks, Television One (now TVNZ 1) and South Pacific Television (now TVNZ 2), under a single administration. It was the sole television broadcaster in New Zealand until November 1989 when private channel TV3 (now Three) was launched. Bumble (TV Series)
''Bumble'' is a New Zealand children's television series for children ages 2–5 featuring a magical bee. The title character is voiced by Jason Gunn. The series is produced for TVNZ by Gunn's wife, Janine Morrell-Gunn. It also features Bumble's puppet friends: Peek, Boo, Anna and Fishy. Fishy is Maori, and known for his tagline "Kia Ora Bumble". The show officially started in 1999 and ended in 2002. On 15 February 2020, Jason Gunn announced that WhitebaitMedia & NZ on Air will make a new revival series for the new animated pre-school show ''Bumble'' on YouTube. Seven Sharp
''Seven Sharp'' is a half-hour-long New Zealand current affairs programme produced by TVNZ. The programme was created after the discontinuation of '' Close Up''. It broadcasts at 7 pm (straight after '' 1 News at Six'') every weekday on TVNZ 1. ''Seven Sharp'' typically presents 3 stories within a 30-minute timeslot every weeknight, and is designed to be more integrated with social media and real time opinions than its predecessor. ''Seven Sharp'' also shares its time slot with sister channel TVNZ 2's drama ''Shortland Street'', and Prime's '' The Crowd Goes Wild''. ''Marae'' is a bilingual Māori language, Māori and English language, English language current affairs show on TVNZ 1, presented by Te Manahau (Scotty) Morrison, Scotty Morrison and Miriama Kamo. It is the longest Māori running current affairs programme on New Zealand television, starting in 1992. The items are in English and Māori language, this percentage changes over time. 60 Minutes (New Zealand TV Programme)
''60 Minutes'' is a New Zealand news magazine television show. It was originally broadcast on TV3. The show began in New Zealand in 1989 based on the American programme by the same name. The broadcaster of ''60 Minutes'' changed twice during the 1990s. It was one of TV3's flagship programmes when TV3 went to air in 1989, then in 1992 TVNZ won the rights to the programme. After being shown on TV1 from 1993 to 2002, TVNZ decided not to renew the rights the show from CBS, and the rights were reacquired by TV3. Following this, there was a fight over the www.60minutes.co.nz domain, which for a short time, redirected to the site on TVNZ's replacement ''Sunday''. ''Taskmaster New Zealand'' (also known as ''Taskmaster'' or ''Taskmaster NZ'' especially prior to season 4) is a New Zealand comedy panel game show, first broadcast in 2020 on TVNZ 2. ''Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee'' is a New Zealand television comedy panel show on Three, created and presented by Guy Montgomery and co-hosted by Sanjay Patel. The show is loosely based on a spelling bee: each episode, four comedians participate in a series of rounds, where the goal is almost always to spell words or names in rounds that are "designed to be infuriating to take part in and entertaining to watch". The winner of each episode competes again the following week, and the loser of each episode (the one who got last place) must wear a dunce cap in the Dunce's Corner. ''My Kitchen Rules NZ'' is a New Zealand reality show based on the popular Australian reality television series My Kitchen Rules. The show premiered in New Zealand on TV1 on 24 August 2014. Season 2 premiered on TV2 on 12 October 2015. On 29 September 2016, Pete Evans and Manu Feildel, hosts of the Australian MKR, were announced as the hosts for the third season of My Kitchen Rules NZ, which began airing on 25 September 2017. Evans and Feildel also judged season 4, which aired in 2018.
