This is a list of the longest running American first-run syndicated television series, ordered by number of broadcast seasons. To qualify for this list, the programming must originate in North America, shown nationally in the United States, and be first-run syndicated (as opposed to previously aired material, repackaging of previously aired material, or material released in other media). For the purposes of this list, series that were available only on a local or regional basis will be excluded. For series that were presented on American broadcast networks or cable networks at other points in their runs, only the amount aired nationally as original first-run syndicated programming is represented here. Alex Trebek
George Alexander Trebek (; July 22, 1940 – November 8, 2020) was a Canadian and American game show host and television personality. He was best known for hosting the syndicated general knowledge quiz game show ''Jeopardy!'' for 37 seasons from its revival in 1984 until his death in 2020. Trebek hosted a number of other game shows, including '' The Wizard of Odds'', '' Double Dare'', '' High Rollers'', '' Battlestars'', '' Classic Concentration'', and ''To Tell the Truth''. He made appearances, usually as himself, in numerous films and television series. A native of Canada, Trebek became a naturalized American citizen in 1998. For his work on ''Jeopardy!'', Trebek received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host eight times. ''Jerry Springer'' is an American first-run syndicated talk show that was hosted by Jerry Springer. The show ran for twenty-seven seasons from September 30, 1991, to July 26, 2018, in which it broadcast 3,891 episodes. It was taped at the NBC Tower until 2009, when production moved to Stamford Studios. The show premiered as a traditional talk show, with a focus on political issues and current events. However, it reformatted into a tabloid talk show by 1993, with a greater emphasis on single-issue panel discussions with everyday people. The program was unsuccessful in ratings in its first seasons due to its focus on more political issues. The Phil Donahue Show
''The Phil Donahue Show'' is an American talk show that was hosted by Phil Donahue. The show ran for twenty-nine seasons from November 6, 1967, to September 13, 1996, in which it broadcast 6,715 episodes. Before it was placed in syndication in 1970, it was broadcast as a local program on WLWD. Each episode featured Donahue interviewing a panel of guests over different topics. Donahue heavily encouraged participation among audience members. ''America's Black Forum'' is a nationally syndicated weekly news broadcast targeted to an African American audience. The show started in 1977, and is one of the longest running U.S. syndicated television series. As of 2021, the new series is hosted by Marc Morial of the National Urban League. The original show has been presented by James Brown and Juan Williams, and featured such commentators as Armstrong Williams, Deborah Mathis and Charles Ogletree. Central City Productions, Inc. currently owns the rights to America's Black Forum. America's Black Forum was owned by Byron Lewis Sr, Chair, founder of UniWorld Group in the 1970s. ''The McLaughlin Group'' was a syndicated half-hour weekly public affairs talk show television program in the United States, hosted by John McLaughlin from 1982 until his death in 2016. Prompted by the host, the group of four pundits discussed current political issues in a round table format. A revival reuniting the regular panelists aired intermittently between 2018 and 2020. Format The general format for the show consisted of moderator John McLaughin questioning four commentators, among them Pat Buchanan, Eleanor Clift, Clarence Page, Morton Kondracke, Fred Barnes, Jack Germond and Mort Zuckerman.
