This is a list of writers who have worked in the Leonese language (Llingua Llïonesa in Leonese), a language developed from Vulgar Latin with contributions from the pre-Roman languages which were spoken in the territory of the Spanish provinces of León, Zamora, and Salamanca and in some villages in the District of Bragança, Portugal. Leonese (''llionés, ḷḷionés, lionés'') is a set of vernacular Romance languages, Romance language varieties spoken in northern and western portions of the historical region of León (historical region), León in Spain (the modern provinces of Province of León, León, Province of Zamora, Zamora, and Province of Salamanca, Salamanca), the village of Riudenore (in both Spain and Portugal) and Guadramil in Portugal, sometimes considered another language. In the past, it was spoken in a wider area, including most of the historical region of Leon. The current number of Leonese speakers is estimated at 20,000 to 50,000. Zamora (province)
Zamora () is a province of western Spain, in the western part of the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is bordered by the provinces of Ourense, León, Valladolid, and Salamanca, and by Portugal. The present-day province of Zamora was one of three provinces formed from the former Kingdom of León in 1833, when Spain was reorganized into 49 provinces. Of the 174,549 people (2018) in the province, nearly a third live in the capital, Zamora. This province has 250 municipalities. Salamanca () is a Municipality of Spain, municipality and city in Spain, capital of the Province of Salamanca, province of the same name, located in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Caitano Bardón
Cayetano Álvarez Bardón (1881–1924) was a Leonese language writer. His work "Cuentos en Dialecto Leonés" was one of the first books written in the Leonese language in the 20th century. A street in León was named in Bardón's honour, to commemorate his contributions to literature in Leonese. Eva María González Fernández (born 5 November 1980) is a Spanish actress, television host and beauty pageant titleholder who represented her country at the Miss Universe 2003 pageant. Early life González was born and raised in the town of Mairena del Alcor, Seville. She comes from a humble family. Her father, Manuel González was a farmer and her mother, Encarnación Fernández was a housewife. She has a younger sister, named María González Fernández. She studied up to the second year of a diploma in Social Work, then she began to work as a model in the agency that also has model, Raquel Revuelta Armengou in Seville. Severiano Álvarez (1933 – September 23, 2013) was a Leonese language writer. He was born in Cuevas del Sil (in the municipality of Palacios del Sil), province of León. He had two mentions in Leonese language in their region variety in 1982 and 1983, and was awarded with two more in 1983. He died on September 23, 2013, aged 80.
