List Of Karachi First-class Cricket Teams
Karachi cricket teams have competed in the Pakistani first-class cricket tournaments the President's Trophy Grade-I, Patron's Trophy and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy from 1953–54 to 2018–19, and from 2023 to 2024. Between 2019–20 and 2022–23, the city of Karachi was represented in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy by the Sindh cricket team. Teams Owing to the strength of cricket in Karachi, from the 1956–57 season the Karachi City Cricket Association has usually fielded two, sometimes three, first-class teams. (Lahore has done the same from the 1957–58 season.) The names of the teams have varied. In the 1956–57 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy the teams were Karachi Whites (who lost the final), Karachi Blues (defeated by Karachi Whites in a semi-final) and Karachi Greens. In 2014–15 the two latest team names made their debuts: Karachi Dolphins (in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold League) and Karachi Zebras (in the Silver League). First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but the term was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the International Cricket Council, Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. A significant omission of the ICC ruling was any attempt to define first-class cricket retrospectively. Naushad Ali (cricketer)
Naushad Ali Rizvi (; 1 October 1943 – 20 August 2023) was a Pakistani Army officer and cricketer. He was a colonel in the Pakistan Army. Ali played in six Tests in 1965 as Pakistan's wicket-keeper and opening batsman. He played first-class cricket in Pakistan from 1960 to 1979, hitting nine centuries. He was also a match referee and administrator. Biography Syed Naushad Ali Rizvi, born on October 1, 1943, in Gwalior, British India, migrated to Karachi, Pakistan, in 1949. He grew up in Nazimabad, Karachi, where he developed a passion for cricket. Karachi Port Trust Cricket Team
Karachi Port Trust (KPT) was a Pakistani domestic cricket team, sponsored by the Karachi Port Trust. They competed in first-class and List A cricket for two seasons, in 2003−04 and 2004–05. They were set to return to first-class cricket in 2015–16, having won the Patron's Trophy Grade II the previous season, but following restructuring of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy by the Pakistan Cricket Board, they failed to make it through the newly introduced qualifying tournament. Mansoor Ahmed (cricketer, Born 1981)
Mansoor Ahmed Batt (7 January 1968 – 12 May 2018) was a field hockey player and captain of the Pakistan national hockey team. Career Ahmed played as a goalkeeper and Captain for the Pakistan national hockey team from 1986 to 2000. He played 338 International matches and participated in three Olympic Games. He became the recipient of a bronze medal in 1992 Olympic Games. Ahmed played three consecutive World Cups and won 1994 World Cup Hockey Championship (World Cup). The Karachi Dolphins were a limited overs cricket team based in Karachi which played in National One-day Championship and domestic Twenty20. The Dolphins' home ground was National Stadium in Karachi's north end. Moin Khan
Muhammad Moin Khan (; born 23 September 1971) is a Pakistani cricket administrator, coach, and former cricketer, primarily a wicket-keeper-batsman, who remained a member of the Pakistani national cricket team from 1990 to 2004. He was a part of the Pakistani squad which won the 1992 Cricket World Cup. He has also captained the Pakistani side, and led the team to be the champions of the 2000 Asia Cup. Khurram Manzoor (Urdu: خرم منظور, born 10 June 1986) is a Pakistani international cricketer. He is a right-hand opening batsman who also bowls off-spin.
