List Of Iranian Assassinations
List of Iranian assassinations refers to a list of alleged and confirmed assassinations, reported to have been conducted by the Islamic Republic of Iran and previously by the Pahlavi Dynasty and several underground Resistance Opposition groups. It includes attempts on notable persons who were reported to have been specifically targeted by the various Iranian security and intelligence, most notably Kurdish dissidents of the Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran in 1980s and 1990s. Prior to the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979, the Organization of Intelligence and National Security also allegedly performed a number of political motivated assassinations against dissidents and opposition leaders. Assassination is the willful killing, by a sudden, secret, or planned attack, of a personespecially if prominent or important. Gholam Ali Oveisi
Arteshbod Gholam-Ali Oveissi (; 16 April 1918 – 7 February 1984) was an Iranian general and the Chief Commander of the Imperial Iranian Armed Forces under Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He was the last general to head the Imperial Army of Iran. He is regarded as one of the most powerful and adept military generals in Iran's modern history. Early life Oveissi's family from his father's lineage goes back to Shah Qara Yusuf Muhammad, the ruler of the Ghara Ghoyonlu dynasty (Black Sheep Turkomans) and descends through Uzun Hassan. He is a direct descendant of Eskandar Beik Torkaman, the minister, head of army (Iraq campaign) and personal advisor to Shah Abbas the Great. On his mother's side he was the grandson of Hossein Ali Mirza, the eldest son of Mohammad Ali Shah Qajar. Kazem Rajavi
Kazem Radjavi () (8 February 1934 – 24 April 1990) was an Iranian university professor known for his work as a human rights advocate. He was also the elder brother of Iranian Mujahedin-e Khalq leader Massoud Rajavi. When, in 1971, Massoud Rajavi was arrested and sentenced to death, Kazem Rajavi managed to prevent the execution by forming an international campaign and changing the verdict to life imprisonment. He engaged in international endeavors to defend human rights in Iran, was a "major opposition voice to the fundamentalist government of Iranian". He held a PhD from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva and was a political science professor at Geneva University. He is believed to have been assassinated by Islamic Republic of Iran agents. Karim Mohammedzadeh
Karim Mohammedzadeh (; b. 1 July 1963 – 1 April 1990) was a Kurdish dissident who was assassinated in Sweden in 1990. Life Karim Mohammedzadeh was born in Iranian Kurdistan and came to Sweden as a political refugee in 1988 and immediately gained the right to asylum. Death On 1 April 1990 he was assassinated in his apartment in the town of Nynäshamn south of Stockholm. The murder remains officially unsolved. However, the Iranian government is widely believed to have ordered the assassination as it had many similarities with other assassinations and assassination attempts on eastern Kurdish dissidents around the world at this time. Democratic Party Of Iranian Kurdistan
The Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI; , HDKA; ), also known as the Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), is an armed leftist separatist movement of Kurds, exiled in northern Iraq with branch offices in Europe. It is banned in Iran and thus not able to operate openly. The group calls for either separatism in Iran or a federal system. Since 1979, KDPI has waged a persistent guerrilla war against Iran. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou (, ; ; ; 22 December 1930 – 13 July 1989) was an Iranian Kurdish and Assyrian politician and leader. Ghassemlou was the Secretary-General of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (KDPI) from 1973 until his assassination in 1989 by individuals suspected of being agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Hamid Reza Chitgar (7 July 1949 – 19 May 1987, also known as ''Hamid Bahmani'') was an exiled Iranian communist politician who lived in France after the Iranian Revolution and was assassinated in Austria by the Iranian government. Early life and education Hamid Reza Chitgar was born in the town of Babol in the Mazandaran province of Iran in 1949. After finishing his engineering studies in Tehran, he pursued his master's in Strasbourg, France in the mid 1970s.
