Jungle King Tar-chan
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masaya Tokuhiro. The manga was serialized in Shueisha's anthology ''Weekly Shōnen Jump'' from March 1988 to June 1990; midway through serialization, its title was changed to ''New Jungle King Tar-chan'', and continued until April 1995. The overall series' chapters were collected in 27 ''tankōbon'' volumes. The manga was adapted into a 50-episode anime television series produced by Group TAC, broadcast on TV Tokyo between October 1993 and September 1994. The mountain gorilla (''Gorilla beringei beringei'') is one of the two subspecies of the eastern gorilla. It is listed as endangered by the IUCN . There are two populations: One is found in the Virunga Mountains, Virunga volcanic mountains of Central Africa, Central/East Africa, within three National Parks: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Mgahinga, in southwest Uganda; Volcanoes National Park, Volcanoes, in northwest Rwanda; and Virunga National Park, Virunga, in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The other population is found in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Some primatologists speculate the Bwindi population is a separate subspecies, though no description has been finalized. Cromartie High School
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiji Nonaka. It was serialized in Kodansha's manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'' from August 2000 to May 2006, with its chapters collected in 18 volumes. It follows the everyday life of Takashi Kamiyama and his odd classmates at Cromartie High School, an infamous school for delinquents. The series is a parody of Japanese manga of the 1970s and 1980s. The style of art resembles Ryoichi Ikegami's works such as ''Otoko-gumi'' and ''Otoko Ōzora''. Both the manga and anime have been released in North America by ADV Manga and ADV Films, respectively.
