Ecuadorians ( es, ecuatorianos) are people identified with the South American country of Ecuador. This connection may be residential, legal, historical or cultural. For most Ecuadorians, several (or all) of these connections exist and are collectively the source of their being ''Ecuadorian''. Numerous indigenous cultures inhabited what is now Ecuadorian territory for several millennia before the expansion of the Inca Empire in the fifteenth century. The Las Vegas culture of coastal Ecuador is one of the oldest cultures in the Americas. The Valdivia culture is another well-known early Ecuadorian culture. Jorge Saade (born in Guayaquil, Ecuador; full name: Jorge Saade-Scaff) is a violinist. Background Saade is a "Gold Medal" graduate of the "Antonio Neumane" National Conservatory of Music. He is a "Cum Laude" graduate from the University of Miami where he received his bachelor's degree in Music. He holds a Master of Music Degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he studied with violinist and pedagogue Robert Gerle. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Classical music, Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Arturo Rodas
Arturo Rodas (born 3 March 1954, in Quito) is an Ecuadorian-born French-citizen composer. Biography Rodas studied at the National Conservatory in Quito, took private composition lessons with Gerardo Guevara, and also graduated in Law at the ''Universidad Central del Ecuador''. Between 1978 and 1980 he was assistant to the French composer José Berghmans in Quito and Paris. He studied at the ''École Normale de Musique de Paris'' from 1979-84. There he graduated in counterpoint (Ginette Keller's class) and composition with Yoshihisa Taira as his mentor. In 1983 he attended a composition course with Luciano Berio. He also studied electroacoustic music with Mesias Maiguashca (CERM in Metz) and with Phil Wachsmann in London. He has attended short courses at the IRCAM in Paris. Mesías Maiguashca
Mesías Maiguashca (born 24 December 1938) is an Ecuadorian composer and an advocate of ''Neue Musik'' (New Music), especially electroacoustic music. Biography Born in Quito, Maiguashca studied music at the Conservatorio Nacional de Quito, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York (1958–65), with Alberto Ginastera at the Instituto di Tella in Buenos Aires, and at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne. In 1965–66 he returned to Quito to teach at the National Conservatory, but then moved back to Germany to attend the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt, and the Fourth Cologne Courses for New Music in 1966–67 where he studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen. Carlos Bonilla Chávez
Carlos Galo Raúl Bonilla Chávez, better known as Carlos Bonilla (March 21, 1923 – January 10, 2010) was one of the pioneers of the Ecuadorian classical guitar and an important figure in 20th-century Ecuadorian music. Biography Chávez was born in Quito and studied at the National ''Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Quito'', where in 1952 he became professor of guitar and composition. In 1962, Bonilla founded the first guitar department at the National Conservatory of Music in Quito, Ecuador. Sought after to perform many of his own compositions which featured solo guitar and orchestra, Bonilla frequently performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador and the Colombian Philharmonic Orchestra.
