V Air
V Air was a short-lived Taiwanese low-cost airline based in Taipei active from 2014 through 2016. It was a franchise subsidiary of TransAsia Airways serving flights to Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Cambodia from its base at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. History On 24 March 2014, V Air announced that its corporate identity would be the Formosan black bear. The airline commenced services on 17 December 2014 with its maiden flight from Taipei to Bangkok, Thailand. On 7 January 2015, a second route, to Chiang Mai, Thailand, was launched. U-Land Airlines () was a Taiwanese low-cost carrier based in Taipei. The airline was the first low-cost carrier in Taiwan, which operated domestic and short-haul international routes. Having gone bankrupt in 2001, it was affiliated to U-Land Building Co., Ltd before it ceased operations, and is known to be the first Taiwanese airline company to have gone bankrupt. The Airbus A330 is a wide-body airliner developed and produced by Airbus. Airbus began developing larger A300 derivatives in the mid–1970s, giving rise to the A330 twinjet as well as the Airbus A340 quadjet, and launched both designs along with their first orders in June 1987. The A330-300, the first variant, took its maiden flight in November 1992 and entered service with Air Inter in January 1994. The A330-200, a shortened longer-range variant, followed in 1998 with Canada 3000 as the launch operator. The A330 shares many underpinnings with the airframe of the early A340 variants, most notably the same wing components, and by extension the same structure. TransAsia Airways (TNA, until January 1992 known by its Chinese-translated name Foshing Airlines;For historical pictures with "Foshing Airlines" on it, see: ) was a Taiwanese airline based in Neihu District in Taipei. Though the company started its operations focusing mainly on the Taiwanese domestic market, it operated on many scheduled international routes and focused mainly on Southeast and Northeast Asia and cross-strait flights at the time of closure. TransAsia suspended operations and shut down indefinitely on 22 November 2016 after a pair of hull loss incidents that occurred within months.
