Clementi ( , ) is a planning area and residential town located at the easternmost fringe of the West Region of Singapore. The town borders Bukit Batok to the north, Bukit Timah to the northeast, Queenstown to the east and Jurong East to the west. Etymology "Clementi" derives its name from 'Clementi Road', the main traffic route that still runs into the district to this day. It was once known as 'Reformatory Road' as there was a boys' home situated along the road. In 1947, the Singapore Rural Board discussed renaming the road. Their original intention was to name it after Sir Hugh Clifford, but it was eventually named as Clementi Road. The Projector (Singapore Cinema)
The Projector is an independent cinema in Singapore. Founded in 2014, it specializes in arts-house films and also screens mainstream movies and is a venue for live events such as stand-up comedy shows. The Projector is currently operating at Golden Mile Tower and Cineleisure Orchard. It previously operated out of other locations in Riverside Point and The Cathay. History The Projector was founded in 2014 by Karen Tan, Sharon Tan and Blaise Trigg-Smith, under their company Pocket Projects. Sharon Tan was the general manager. The venue was originally founded as Golden Theatre in 1973, the biggest cinema at the time in Singapore and Malaysia, with a single hall that sat up to 1,500 people. Cathay Cineleisure Orchard is an shopping centre, urban mall located at 8 Grange Road, Singapore. The building is managed by Cathay Organisation under its subsidiary company of Cathay Cineleisure International. Background The mall opened in October 1997 on the site of the previous building, the old Orchard Cinema, which was torn down in 1994. The youth-oriented mall houses a mix of food and beverage outlets, fashion shops and a hair salon. It also includes an indoor trampoline park on Level 9. Capitol Theatre, briefly Kyo-Ei Gekijo, is a historic cinema and theatre located in Singapore. It was adjoined to four-storey building known as the Capitol Building.
