This is a list of computer-aided technologies (CAx) companies and their software products. Software using computer-aided technologies (CAx) has been produced since the 1970s for a variety of computer platforms. SpaceClaim is a solid modeling CAD (computer-aided design) software that runs on Microsoft Windows and developed by SpaceClaim Corporation. The company is headquartered in Concord, Massachusetts. SpaceClaim Corporation was founded in 2005 to develop 3D solid modeling software for mechanical engineering. Alias Systems Corporation
Alias Systems Corporation (formerly Alias Research, Alias, Wavefront), headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, was a software company that produced high-end 3D computer graphics, 3D graphics software. Alias was eventually bought by Autodesk. History Alias Systems Corporation was founded by Stephen Bingham, Nigel McGrath, Susan McKenna, and David Springer in 1983. The company was initially funded by a $61,000 grant from the National Research Council Canada, National Research Council, scientific research tax credits, and the founders personal funds. In 1984, while sitting in a Detroit restaurant during the SIGGRAPH conference, the founders decided to name the company Alias because its only revenue came from Springer's work on an anti-aliasing program for Silicon Graphics, Inc. Computer-aided Industrial Design
Computer Aided Industrial Design (CAID) is a subset of computer-aided design (CAD) software that can assist in creating the look-and-feel or industrial design aspects of a product in development. CAID programs tend to provide designers with improved freedom of creativity compared to typical CAD tools. However a typical workflow may follow a simple design methodology as follows: * Creating sketches, using a stylus * Generating curves directly from the sketch * Generating surfaces directly from the curves The end result is generally a 3D model that represents the main intent of the designer had in mind for the physical product.
