Argentina
Argentina (), officially the Argentine Republic ( es, link=no, República Argentina), is a country in the southern half of South America. Carlos Cossio
Carlos Cossio (February 3, 1903 – August 24, 1987) was an Argentinian militant university reformer, jurist, lawyer, legal philosopher and professor. One of his most important works is the concept of the Egological Theory of Law. Biography Cossio had his primary and secondary education in Tucumán, then moved to Buenos Aires to study Law at the University of Buenos Aires, where he joined the university reform movement, being one of the leaders of the Student Center. He completed his doctoral thesis on the topic of "The University Reform and the Problem of the New Generation," published in 1927. From 1934 to 1948, he taught at the National University of La Plata where he began to develop his theories on egological law. In 1948, he took over the Chair of Philosophy of Law at the University of Buenos Aires, where he finished the definition of his original conception of law. José Ingenieros
José Ingenieros (born Giuseppe Ingegnieri, April 24, 1877October 31, 1925) was an Argentine physician, pharmacist, positivist philosopher and essayist. He was born in Palermo (Italy), and graduated from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in 1900. Ingenieros was philosophically influenced by Herbert Spencer and Auguste Comte, and wrote a very important philosophical and social work, "El hombre mediocre" (''The Mediocre Man''), in 1913. Ingenieros founded the Buenos Aires Institute of Criminology in 1907 and the Argentine Psychological Society in 1908; he was elected President of the Argentine Medical Association in 1909. Ingenieros married Eva Rutenberg, in Lausanne, in 1914. Appointed Assistant Dean of the School of Philosophy and Letters of his alma mater, he played a prominent role in the landmark University reform in Argentina, in 1918. Daniel Herrendorf
Daniel Esteban Herrendorf (born June 18, 1965) is an Argentine writer, essayist and philosopher. Biography Herrendorf studied political science in the Argentine Institute of Political and Social Sciences, founded by the Argentine legalist Carlos Fayt. Afterwards, he moved to Mexico City to study and teach philosophy, jurisprudence and epistemology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Herrendorf moved to Europe, where he lived in Rome, Barcelona, and Paris. He served as an expert witness to the UN on human rights before joining the Argentine presidential cabinet. His novel ''Memorias de Antínoo'' was translated into French by Michel J. Risieri Frondizi (1910–1983) was an Argentinian philosopher, anthropologist, and rector of the University of Buenos Aires. Background Risieri Frondizi Ercoli was born on 20 November 1910 in Posadas, Argentina. His parents were Julio Frondizi and Isabel Ercoli, who had arrived in the 1890s from Gubbio, Umbria, Italy. Frondizi had seven brothers and six sisters. They included Arturo Frondizi (president 1958-1962), Ricardo (English professor) and Silvio (Marxist theorist, politician, and lawyer, assassinated in 1974). Frondizi studied at Harvard University. Ricardo Forster (born 26 September 1957) is an Argentine philosopher, historian of ideas and political critic. He is professor and researcher at Universidad de Buenos Aires and University of Maryland. He is also member of the editorial board of '' Pensamiento de los Confines'' magazine. Along with Horacio Verbitsky, Nicolás Casullo and others created Espacio Carta Abierta ("''Open Letter Spot''"), a propagandistic group in defense of the Kirchner government, in 2008, after an attempt to raise taxes on agricultural exports led to large street protests. José Pablo Feinmann
José Pablo Feinmann (29 March 1943 – 17 December 2021) was an Argentine philosopher, writer, playwright, and television host. He also penned several screenplays for domestic film production and international coproductions. Born to Abraham and Elena (de Albuquerque) Feinmann, Feinmann was a Peronist Youth militant during the 1970s, considering Peronism as a real mass movement with the potential to change the country for the better. Nevertheless, he opposed armed violence to achieve political ends, criticizing the foco theory of Che Guevara which, years after the Cuban Revolution, became popular in some sectors of the Marxist-Peronist movement, such as Montoneros. Feinmann abandoned Peronism in the 1990s, during the neoliberal government of Carlos Menem. He later became a supporter of left-wing Peronist president Cristina Fernandez. Ernesto Garzón Valdés
Ernesto Garzón Valdés (17 February 1927 – 19 November 2023) was an Argentine philosopher. He had been a professor of philosophy of law at the universities of Córdoba and La Plata in Argentina and, upon being exiled in Germany during the administration of Isabel Perón and the subsequent dictatorship in Argentina, at the universities of Bonn, Cologne and Mainz. He worked at the embassy of the Republic of Argentina in Bonn as a cultural attaché and as plenipotentiary minister until 1974, when he was expelled from the diplomatic service for political reasons. He then taught legal philosophy at Bonn and Cologne, until he gained a chair in political science at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz in 1981.
