Lisa Hewitt is a Canadian country music singer. Hewitt released her self-titled debut album on the independent Socan Records in 1999. Her second album, ''The Road I Chose'', was released in 2004 by Royalty Records. It started as an independent trade from 1973 to 2006 until VNU Media took over in 2006 and became a relaunched sister trade to ''Billboard'', until its final issue in 2009. The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) was founded in 1976 as the Academy of Country Music Entertainment to organize, promote and develop a Canadian country music industry. The groundwork for the association began on June 3, 1973, when a group of twelve entertainers, promoters and radio personalities met at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, Ontario, and formed a board of directors to help promote Canadian content. CMT is a Canadian English language discretionary specialty channel owned as a joint venture between Corus Entertainment (which owns a controlling 90% interest) and Paramount Networks Americas (which owns the remaining 10%), owners of the flagship CMT channel in the United States.
