Lioto
Lioto, also spelled ''Liotto'' or ''Lihoto'', is a village situated in Ouaka Prefecture, Central African Republic. History From June 2014 to March 2015, there had been 17 attacks in Lioto. The first attack occurred on 5 June 2014. The village received another attack on 2 and 14 July 2014, causing the displacement of the villagers to nearby settlements, Grimari and DR Congo. Later, they returned to the village. However, an armed group attacked the Fulani militia in Lioto in October 2014, causing 60 people to be killed and more than one hundred injured. During the attack, several houses were torched and the village was looted. Anti-balaka was alleged to be the attacker, yet the local group commander denied it. An armed group from Zouhougou attacked Lioto on 10 February 2015 and houses were reported burned. Grimari
Grimari is a city located in the Ouaka prefecture in Central African Republic, approximately away from the capital, Bangui. The politician Abel Goumba was born in Grimari. History On March 1, 1910, Grimari replaced Pouyamba as the capital of the subdivision in the district of Kémo. This subdivision was attached to the constituency of Bambari from 1 January 1920. In 1930, the African Textile Company set up a ginning factory, this cotton company would become Cotonaf. After World War II, the administrative reform of October 16, 1946, made Grimari the district capital of the Ouaka-Kotto region. On January 23, 1961, the independent Central African Republic established the city of Grimari as the capital of the sub-prefecture. Union for Peace in the Central African Republic (UPC, ) is a rebel group in the Central African Republic which controls southern parts of the country. History UPC was formed on 17 September 2014 by Ali Darassa from the ex-Séléka elements. Their initial headquarters was Bambari, however they were forced to retreat on 6 March 2017. On 10 January 2019, they launched a heavy attack on MINUSCA forces in Bambari vowing to recapture the city. The Wagner Group (), officially known as PMC Wagner (, ), is a Russian state-funded private military company (PMC) controlled 2023 Wagner Group plane crash, until 2023 by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a former close ally of Russia's president Vladimir Putin, and since then by Pavel Prigozhin. The Central African Armed Forces (; FACA) are the armed forces of the Central African Republic and have been barely functional since the outbreak of the Central African Republic Civil War, civil war in 2012.
