Linux Vacation / Eastern Europe (LVEE) is an annual international conference of developers and users of FLOSS, free and open source software. It takes place in the end of June – beginning of July in Belarus, near the Grodno city. The event is aimed at combining both professional communication and leisure activities for the free software professionals and enthusiasts. LVEE organizers are Minsk Linux user group, Linux Users Group and open source community active members from Grodno and Brest, Belarus, Brest. Recommended languages are Belarusian language, Belarusian, English language, English and Russian language, Russian. History The first LVEE conference took place in 2005. It was inspired by a Russian LinuxFest event, after the large Minsk delegation had taken part in it in 2004. A conference is a meeting, often lasting a few days, which is organized on a particular subject, or to bring together people who have a common interest. Conferences can be used as a form of group decision-making, although discussion, not always decisions, is the primary purpose of conferences. The term derives from the word ''confer''. History The first known use of "conference" appears in 1527, meaning "a meeting of two or more persons for discussing matters of common concern". It came from the word ''confer'', which means "to compare views or take counsel". However the idea of a conference far predates the word. Arguably, as long as there have been people, there have been meetings and discussions between people.
