Lintgen () is a town in central Luxembourg and the capital of the Communes of Luxembourg, commune of the same name. Lintgen situated in the Cantons of Luxembourg, canton of Mersch (canton), Mersch and located on the river Alzette. The commune of Lintgen also includes the towns of Gosseldange and Prettingen. History Lintgen is first formally mentioned in Franconia, Franconian records in 896 CE. Mersch () is a canton in the centre of Luxembourg. It is the only canton, other than Luxembourg, to be entirely surrounded by other cantons, and therefore not to have an international boundary. Mersch (, ; ) is a commune and town in central Luxembourg, situated in the canton of the same name. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Alzette, Mamer and Eisch. , the town of Mersch, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 5,093.
