''Lingua Mortis'' is the eleventh full-length album by the German heavy metal music, heavy metal band Rage (German band), Rage, released in 1996. It's the band's first collaboration with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, which played with the band Rage's songs re-arranged for a classic orchestra. The album consists of re-recorded songs from the previous album, ''Black in Mind'' and an epic medley of songs from recent albums to that time. Rage (German Band)
Rage is a German Heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in 1984 by Peter "Peavy" Wagner. They were part of the Music of Germany#Heavy metal, German heavy/speed/power metal scene that emerged in the early to mid-1980s and are considered part of the scene's "big four" alongside Grave Digger (band), Grave Digger, Helloween, and Running Wild (band), Running Wild. Rage was formed in 1984 under the name Avenger. After releasing their debut album ''Prayers of Steel'' and the ''Depraved to Black'' EP in 1985, the band changed their name to Rage due to the existence of another band in England with the same name. Prague Symphony Orchestra
The Prague Symphony Orchestra ( ''FOK'') is a Czech orchestra based in Prague. The orchestra has traditionally been known by the acronym 'FOK', standing for 'Film-Opera-Koncert', reflecting the orchestra's fields of activity as envisioned by its founder. When the city of Prague made the orchestra its official concert ensemble in 1952, it retained the acronym, giving it the official title 'Symphony Orchestra of the Capital City of Prague – FOK'. Symphonic Metal
Symphonic metal is a cross-genre style designation for the symphonic subsets of heavy metal music subgenres. It is used to denote any metal band that makes use of symphonic or orchestral elements. The style features the heavy drums and guitars of metal with different elements of orchestral classical music, such as symphonic instruments, choirs and sometimes a full orchestra, or just keyboard orchestration. Power Metal
Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within a symphonic context. Generally, power metal is characterized by a faster, lighter, and more uplifting sound, in contrast with the heaviness and dissonance prevalent in, for example, extreme metal. GUN Records (''Great Unlimited Noises'') was a record label located in Witten, Germany, founded in 1992 by Bogdan Kopec ( DRAKKAR Promotion Musikverlag GmbH) and Wolfgang Funk. For a period, it was a subsidiary of BMG. Different artists on the label have had hit singles as well as albums in Europe.
