''Ling Long'' (Chinese: 玲瓏, ''Elegant and Fine'') was a Chinese language weekly women's magazine published in Shanghai, China, from 1931 to 1937. It was one of the most popular women's magazine in China during its lifetime. History and profile ''Ling Long'' was established in 1931. The first issue appeared on 18 March 1931. The magazine stated its goal as follows: "to promote the exquisite life of women, and encourage lofty entertainment in society." The publisher of ''Ling Long'' was Sanhe Publishing House based in Shanghai. The magazine was financed by Lin Zecang, the head of the company. It was published in pocket-size on a weekly basis every Wednesday. Both men and women served on the editorial board of the magazine. The art editors of the magazine included Lin Zemin, Xu Bingduo, Zhao Baiye, Xu Jinsheng and Ye Qianyu. Ling Long is a Chinese mathematician whose research concerns modular forms, elliptic surfaces, and dessins d'enfants, as well as number theory in general. She is a professor of mathematics at Louisiana State University. Early life and education Long studied mathematics, computer science, and engineering at Tsinghua University, graduating in 1997. She went to Pennsylvania State University for her graduate studies; her dissertation, ''Modularity of Elliptic Surfaces'', she worked on with Noriko Yui, visiting from Queen's University, in her time as a graduate student. The Ling Long Pagoda or Linglong Tower (''Multifunctional Studio Tower'') (玲珑塔) houses a part of the International Broadcast Center (IBC). It is located near the Olympic Cauldron, on the northwest side of Beijing National Stadium. "Ling Long" (玲珑) means ''delicate'', and is referred to as the ''Delicate Tower'' in Chinese. Description The permanent structure is a three-sided tower. The tower contains 6 occupiable pods with open space in between. One of the pods displays the Olympic rings. It is 128m tall, with 7 occupiable floors, each an equilateral triangle. The floors are subdivided into two levels. The glass-walled pods are held up by three supporting ribs at the three corners. During the 2008 Summer Olympics the building was operated by Beijing Olympic Broadcasting. (often shorted to Linglong Tire) is a Chinese tire manufacturing enterprise, which has been among the global top 20 tire enterprises and top five in Mainland China for many years. History The firm's predecessor, Zhaoyuan Tire Manufacturing & Repairing Plant, was established in 1975. However, by the mid-1980s, when the Chinese economy entered the reform and opening period, the firm found itself in a poor financial situation, with dated equipment and inefficient production techniques. In 1987, the firm was reorganized as Shandong Linglong Tire Co., Ltd. under the leadership of Wang Xicheng. Following its reorganization, Linglong Tire began producing tires for passenger cars, and began producing bias tires.
