Line 8 (CPTM)
Line 8 (Diamond) (), formerly Line B (Gray), is one of the thirteen lines that make up the Transport in São Paulo#Rail transport, São Paulo Metro Rail Transport Network in Brazil and one of the three lines operated by ViaMobilidade. The line was previously operated by Ferrovia Paulista S.A., Fepasa, and subsequently by CPTM. Since 27 January 2022, ViaMobilidade has been operating it under a contract for 30 years, along with Line 9 (CPTM), Line 9-Emerald. Stations Amador Bueno Extension Mairinque Extension Since the establishment of suburban trains in the late 1920s, their services have connected São Paulo to the city of Mairinque. With the creation of Ferrovia Paulista S.A., Fepasa in 1971, the suburban section was transferred to the Regional Suburbs Unit. This regional unit was expanded in the 1970s and transformed into a Metropolitan Regional Division (DRM). In the 1980s, the service underwent some renovations, with the introduction of the TUE Kawasaki/Toshiba - 4800 S ...

Commuter Rail
Commuter rail or suburban rail is a Passenger train, passenger rail service that primarily operates within a metropolitan area, connecting Commuting, commuters to a Central business district, central city from adjacent suburbs or commuter towns. Commuter rail systems can use locomotive-hauled trains or multiple units, using electric or diesel propulsion. Distance charges or zone pricing may be used. The term can refer to systems with a wide variety of different features and service frequencies, but is often used in contrast to rapid transit or light rail. Some services share similarities with both commuter rail and high-frequency rapid transit; examples include German S-Bahn in some cities, the Réseau Express Régional (RER) in Paris, the Milan S Lines, S Lines in Milan, many Japanese commuter systems, the East Rail line in Hong Kong, and some Australasian suburban networks, such as Sydney Trains. Many commuter rail systems share tracks with other passenger services and Cargo ...

Direct Current
Direct current (DC) is one-directional electric current, flow of electric charge. An electrochemical cell is a prime example of DC power. Direct current may flow through a conductor (material), conductor such as a wire, but can also flow through semiconductors, electrical insulation, insulators, or even through a vacuum as in electron beam, electron or ion beams. The electric current flows in a constant direction, distinguishing it from alternating current (AC). A archaism, term formerly used for this type of current was galvanic current. The abbreviations ''AC'' and ''DC'' are often used to mean simply ''alternating'' and ''direct'', as when they modify ''Electric current, current'' or ''voltage''. Direct current may be converted from an alternating current supply by use of a rectifier, which contains Electronics, electronic elements (usually) or electromechanical elements (historically) that allow current to flow only in one direction. Direct current may be converted into alt ...

BUS C
A bus (contracted from omnibus, with variants multibus, motorbus, autobus, etc.) is a motor vehicle that carries significantly more passengers than an average car or van, but fewer than the average rail transport. It is most commonly used in public transport, but is also in use for charter purposes, or through private ownership. Although the average bus carries between 30 and 100 passengers, some buses have a capacity of up to 300 passengers. The most common type is the single-deck rigid bus, with double-decker and articulated buses carrying larger loads, and midibuses and minibuses carrying smaller loads. Coaches are used for longer-distance services. Many types of buses, such as city transit buses and inter-city coaches, charge a fare. Other types, such as elementary or secondary school buses or shuttle buses within a post-secondary education campus, are free. In many jurisdictions, bus drivers require a special large vehicle licence above and beyond a regular driving li ...

Palmeiras-Barra Funda (CPTM)
Palmeiras-Barra Funda, also known only as Barra Funda, is a train station on Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos, CPTM Line 7 (CPTM), Line 7-Ruby and ViaMobilidade Line 8 (CPTM), Line 8-Diamond, in the district of Barra Funda (district of São Paulo), Barra Funda in São Paulo. History The first railway to open a station in Barra Funda was the Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana, on 10 July 1875. On 19 May 1892, São Paulo Railway opened their station, a few meter ahead, after Viaduto Pacaembu. The stations were isolated from each other. The idea of integration between the suburban trains and Metro began in the 1980s. The current station was built by the São Paulo Metro with resources from the State and Federal Governments, in the location of the old Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana station, to attend the East-West Line (current Line 3-Red) and unify in only one station the FEPASA and CBTU commuter trains. During the construction, in May 1986, a favela was displaced, which was located ...

Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Side platforms may result in a wider overall footprint for the station compared with an island platform, where a single width of platform can be shared by riders using either track. In some stations, the two side platforms are connected by a footbridge or tunnel to allow safe access to the alternate platform. While a pair of side platforms is often provided on a dual-track line, a single side platform is usually sufficient (trains are usually only boarded from one side) for a single-track line. Layout Where the station is close to a level crossing (g ...

Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform (American English) or centre platform (British English)) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are sometimes used between the opposite-direction tracks on twin-track route stations as they are cheaper and occupy less area than other arrangements. They are also useful within larger stations, where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be accessed from opposite sides of the same platform instead of side platforms on either side of the tracks, simplifying and speeding transfers between the two tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. In the United Kingdom the use of island platforms on twin-track routes is relatively common when the railway line is in a cutting or raised on an embankment, as this makes it easier to provide access to the platf ...

CPTM
The Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) () is one of the rapid transit companies serving the city of São Paulo, alongside the São Paulo Metro, Via Quatro and Via Mobilidade, all four forming the largest metropolitan rail transport network of Latin America. It was created on 28 May 1992, from several railroads that already existed in Greater São Paulo, Brazil. Part of the Greater São Paulo rail system, the CPTM currently operates 57 stations in five lines, with a total length of . The system carries about 2 million passengers a day. On 7 December 2018, CPTM set a weekday ridership record with 3,221,035 trips. History Most of railways now run by the CPTM were built between 1860 and 1957 by the São Paulo Railway (the lines 7 and 10), Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana (the lines 8 and 9) and Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil (lines 11 and 12). These railways were eventually incorporated into the state-owned Rede Ferroviária Federal (RFFSA) in 1957 and Ferrovia Pau ...
