Line 2 (O-Train)
Line 2 (), also known as the Trillium Line (), is a Hybrid rail, diesel light rail line in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Operated by OC Transpo, it runs north–south between Bayview station (Ottawa), Bayview and Limebank station, Limebank stations, using main line trains. The first line in the O-Train system, Line 2 opened on October 15, 2001. It operates on a dedicated right-of-way with a mix of single and Double-track railway, double-track sections. Although it serves as a public transit line, Line 2 is legally classified as a federally regulated mainline railway. It operates under the official name "Capital Railway", which appears on the trains alongside the O-Train logo. Service on Line 2 has evolved over time. Trillium Railway
The Trillium Railway is a Canadian short-line railroad operating in the province of Ontario. Much of its right-of-way in the Niagara area was formerly part of the " Welland Canal Railway" (also known as the Welland Railway) that closely followed the route of the second Welland Canal. Trillium Railway began operations in 1997 with only eleven kilometres of railway, all of which were located in Port Colborne. With an expansion in 1998, Trillium added 55 kilometres of track between Delhi and St. Thomas. Another expansion in 1999 added another 55 kilometres of track in Welland, Thorold, and St. Catharines. In the Niagara Region, Trillium's trackage, referred to as Port Colborne Harbour Railway, is made up of Canadian National's former secondary and branch lines, including a number of urban spurs, on the west side of the Canal. Greenboro Station
Greenboro station is a transitway stop and O-Train Line 2 (Trillium Line) station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at Bank Street and Johnston Road at the north end of the South Keys shopping complex. The station has a 678-space paid park and ride lot. The bus terminus was opened with the southern transitway on September 2, 1995. From 2001 to 2020, Greenboro station served as the southern terminus for the Trillium Line. With the line's reopening on January 6, 2025, Greenboro station became a through station, while Limebank station serves as the line's new terminus. The Talent is a multiple unit light train manufactured by Bombardier that was developed by Waggonfabrik Talbot in Aachen shortly before the company was acquired by Bombardier in 1995. The name ''Talent'' is an acronym in German for ''TALbot LEichter Nahverkehrs-Triebwagen'' (in English, ''Talbot light suburban self-propelled car''). It comes in a number of variants, including high-floor, low-floor, diesel-mechanical, diesel-hydraulic, diesel-electric, electric, and tilting, and in lengths of two, three, or four carriages. Ottawa Central Railway
The Ottawa Central Railway was a Canadian short-line railroad subsidiary of the Canadian National Railway. The headquarters were at the Walkley Yard, 3141 Albion Road South, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The OCRR was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Quebec Railway Corporation (QCR). It consisted of former CN subdivisions, and operated between Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec, at an interchange with the CN Montreal-Toronto main line, to Ottawa and Pembroke, Ontario. Bytown And Prescott Railway
The Bytown and Prescott Railway (B&PR) was a railway joining Ottawa (then called Bytown) with Prescott on the Saint Lawrence River, in the Province of Canada. The company was incorporated in 1850, and the first train ran from Prescott into Bytown on Christmas Day, 1854. The railway, Ottawa's first to outside markets, was initially used to ship lumber collected on the Ottawa River for further shipping along the St. Lawrence to markets in the United States and Montreal. Bytown became Ottawa in 1855, and the railway changed its name to match, becoming the Ottawa and Prescott Railway (O&PR). The operating company went bankrupt and re-formed in 1866 as the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Railway. Prescott, Ontario
Prescott is a town on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River in province of Ontario, Canada. The town is a part of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. In 2021, it had a population of 4,078. The Ogdensburg–Prescott International Bridge, east of Prescott at Johnstown, crosses the Canada–United States border and connects the town with the city of Ogdensburg, New York. Prescott was founded in the early 19th century by Edward Jessup, a Loyalist soldier during the American Revolution, who named the village after a former Governor-in-Chief, Robert Prescott. Carleton Station
Carleton station is an O-Train light rail station located in the center of the Carleton University campus in Ottawa, Ontario. The station is served by Line 2 (O-Train), Line 2, which began service in 2001, and is between Dow's Lake station to the north and Mooney's Bay station to the south. Along with the rest of the Trillium Line, the station closed on May 3, 2020, for the extension of the line and an upgrade of the station. The station re-opened on January 6, 2025.
