Richard Lindon (30 June 1816 – 10 June 1887) was an English leatherworker who was instrumental in the development of the modern-day rugby ball by advancing the craft for ball, rubber bladder, and air pump. Life and career Lindon was born at Clifton-upon-Dunsmore just outside Rugby, England, he set up home and shop at 6/6a Lawrence Sheriff Street, Rugby, immediately opposite the front doors of the Quadrangle of the Rugby School. As a boot and shoemaker, Lindon supplied footwear to the townsfolk of Rugby including the teachers and pupils of the school. Balls in those days were not spherical, but more plum-shaped. This was because a pig's bladder was inflated by mouth through the snapped stem of a clay pipe then encased in panels of stitched leather. Lindon was a goalkeeper who played for Merthyr Town but was signed by Charlton Athletic as a player-manager after Alex MacFarlane's departure to Dundee in January 1928. Alfred Lindon (born Abner Lindenbaum; – 1948) was a Polish jeweller from a poor Jewish background who became an expert on pearls. He married into the Citroën family and built an important collection of modern art that was looted by the Nazis in occupied Paris during the Second World War. He lived to see some of his paintings returned, although others were returned to his heirs after his death. Early life and family Lindon was born Abner Lindenbaum around 1867 at Kraków in the Grand Duchy of Kraków, a territory that is now in Poland. Patrick Lindon (born 1965) is a Swiss industrial designer best known for his Business Class seating and cabin interiors for Swiss International Air Lines. He began designing and building furniture in 1980 and opened his design office in 1983. He has been producing his own line of modular furniture since 1998. The ‘T71 System’ is sold worldwide and is part of the collection at the Museum of Design Zurich. Swiss International Air Lines has been flying Business Class Seating and Cabin Interiors designed by Patrick Lindon Industrial Design since 2001. Lindon Oscar Crow (April 4, 1933 – October 25, 2018) was an American football cornerback who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL). He was named to three Pro Bowls. College career Crow played college football at the University of Southern California. Playing both defensive back and running back, Crow rushed for 723 yards, caught 13 passes for 412 yards, scored 11 touchdowns, and intercepted 11 passes on defense. Lindon Levi Meikle (born 21 March 1988) is an English footballer who plays for side Tamworth on loan from side Buxton, where he plays as a winger or striker. Meikle started his career with Vernon Colts before joining Eastwood Town's youth system, and made his first-team debut aged 16 in 2004. He helped Eastwood to promotion via the Northern Premier League First Division in 2007 and by winning the Northern Premier League Premier Division title in 2009. He played for them in the Conference North for two seasons before moving to Conference Premier club Mansfield Town in 2011, and helped them reach the play-offs in the 2011–12 season.
