Lindenberg Island
Lindenberg Island is a circular volcanic island in diameter, lying north of Robertson Island and some east-northeast of Cape Fairweather, off the east coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. It was discovered by a Norwegian whaling expedition under C.A. Larsen in December 1893, and was named by Larsen for a member of the firm of Woltereck and Robertson of Hamburg which sent him to the Antarctic. Antarctic Treaty System
The Antarctic Treaty and related agreements, collectively known as the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS), regulate international relations with respect to Antarctica, Earth's only continent without a native human population. Robertson Island
Robertson Island is an ice-covered island, long in a northwest-southeast direction and wide, lying at the east end of the Seal Nunataks off the east coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. Captain Carl Anton Larsen discovered Robertson Island from the ''Jason'' on 9 December 1893. Curious to find out if the volcano was active he skied to the top from the north side of the island, later naming it Mt. Christensen after his longtime partner and majority owner of the ''Jason'', Christen Christensen. Larsen named Robertson Island for William Robertson, co-owner of the Hamburg-based company ''Woltereck & Robertson''. Cape Fairweather
Cape Fairweather is a cape in Antarctica that is high and is ice-covered except for rocky exposures along its southeast and east sides. It lies midway between Drygalski Glacier and Evans Glacier on the east coast of Graham Land and divides Nordenskjöld Coast from Oscar II Coast. Rogosh Glacier branches at the ridge forming Cape Fairweather and flows into Artanes Bay to the south, and into Weddell Sea west of Pedersen Nunatak to the east. The Antarctic Peninsula, known as O'Higgins Land in Chile and Tierra de San Martin in Argentina, and originally as Graham Land in the United Kingdom and the Palmer Peninsula in the United States, is the northernmost part of mainland Antarctica. Nordenskjöld Coast
The Nordenskjöld Coast (64° 30' S 60° 30' W) is located on the Antarctic Peninsula, more specifically Graham Land, which is the top region of the Peninsula. The Peninsula is a thin, long ice sheet with an Alpine-style mountain chain. The coast consists of 15m tall ice cliffs with ice shelves. The Nordenskjöld Coast was discovered by Otto Nordenskjöld, a Swedish explorer and geographer, and Carl Anton Larsen, a Norwegian explorer and whaler, during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition in 1901–1904. The name was suggested by Edwin Swift Balch in 1909, who was part of the Antarctic Exhibition alongside Dr. Nordenskjöld. The Nordenskjöld coast extends 50 miles west-southwest from Cape Longing to Drygalski Bay and Cape Fareweather, with Oscar II Coast located to the south.
