Linda, portrayed by Linda Bove, was a character on the children's program ''Sesame Street''. Linda Bove
Linda Bove Waterstreet (born November 30, 1945) is an American actress who performed as (a fictionalized version of) herself in the PBS children's series ''Sesame Street'' from 1971 to 2002. Bove was the first deaf actress to be part of the program's recurring cast. Early life and education Bove was born deaf in Garfield, New Jersey, to two deaf parents. As a child, she attended St. Joseph School for the Deaf in The Bronx, New York and subsequently Marie Katzenbach School for the Deaf in Trenton, New Jersey, from which she graduated in 1963. She attended Gallaudet College, now Gallaudet University, studying library science. From there, she became interested in theatre. The National Theatre of the Deaf (NTD) is a Connecticut-based theatre company founded in 1967, and is the oldest theatre company in the United States with a continuous history of domestic and international touring, as well as producing original works. Sesame Street is a fictional street located in Manhattan (a borough in New York City). The street serves as the location for the American children's television series of the same name, which is centered around 123 Sesame Street, a fictional brownstone building.
