Linda-Gail Bekker
Linda-Gail Bekker MBChB, DTMH, DCH, FCP(SA) is a professor of Medicine and Chief Operating Officer of the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation. She is also Director of the Desmund Tutu HIV Centre at the University of Cape Town. She is a Past President of the International AIDS Society (2016–18). Early life and education Bekker was born in Zimbabwe. She studied medicine at the University of Cape Town. She intended on becoming a geriatrician, but completed a clinical rotation in KwaZulu-Natal and became interested in HIV and TB research. She saw young people dying from HIV/AIDS and was frustrated that she couldn't help them. Her PhD was funded by the John E. Fogarty International Center. She worked in the Rockefeller University on host immunology. Her doctoral advisor was Gilla Kaplan and she continues to work with her today. COVID-19 Vaccination In South Africa

Glenda Elisabeth Gray Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, MB BCh, FC Paeds, Doctor of Science, DSc (hc), is a South African physician, scientist and activist specializing in the care of children and in HIV medicine. Lenacapavir
Lenacapavir, sold under the brand name Sunlenca, is an antiretroviral medication used to treat and prevent HIV/AIDS. It is taken by mouth or by subcutaneous injection. Lenacapavir is a human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) capsid inhibitor. The most common side effects include reactions at the injection site and nausea. Lenacapavir was approved for medical treatment in the European Union in August 2022, in Canada in November 2022, and in the United States in December 2022.
