Lincoln Square Synagogue
The Lincoln Square Synagogue is a Modern Orthodox congregation and synagogue located at 180 Amsterdam Avenue between West 68th and 69th Streets in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Founded in 1964, the synagogue has moved several times; the most recent move occurred in January 2013. The 2013 building is the largest synagogue built in New York City in over 50 years. The current senior rabbi is Rabbi Shaul Robinson. History The Lincoln Square Synagogue was founded as a congregation in 1964 by Rabbi Shlomo Riskin. In the late 1960s, the first Orthodox Jewish women's tefillah group was created, on the holiday of Simhat Torah at Lincoln Square Synagogue. The travertine building it formerly occupied at 200 Amsterdam Avenue, just from its current building, was built in 1970, and was designed by the firm of Hausman & Rosenberg. Shlomo Einhorn
Shlomo Einhorn (born January 21, 1979) is an Orthodox rabbi that has previously served as Dean of School at Yeshivat Yavneh (Yavneh Hebrew Academy) in Los Angeles. He is also a lecturer, educator, and author. Career After receiving semicha and a master's degree in education from Yeshiva University, Einhorn began his rabbinic career as an intern rabbi at Manhattan's Lincoln Square Synagogue. In 2005, Einhorn became the head rabbi of New York's West Side Institutional Synagogue. Seven years later the shul was drawing over 400 people every week. Adam Mintz
Adam Mintz (born May 15, 1961) is an American Modern Orthodox rabbi, Talmud teacher, professor, and advocate for Orthodox conversions to Judaism and head of the conversion court, Rodfei Zedek. Mintz is the Founding Rabbi of Kehilat Rayim Ahuvim in New York City and a member of the Talmud faculty at Yeshivat Maharat. Kenneth Brander (; born April 18, 1962) is an American Modern Orthodox rabbi who is president and Rosh HaYeshiva of the Ohr Torah Stone network of institutions. He is a member of the Jewish Federations of North America's Rabbinic Cabinet Round Table. A ''hazzan'' (; , lit. Hazan) or ''chazzan'' (, plural ; ; ) is a Jewish musician or precentor trained in the vocal arts who leads the congregation in songful prayer. In English, this prayer leader is often referred to as a cantor, a term also used in Christianity.
