Lina Chiam
Lina Loh Woon Lee ( zh, s=罗文丽, p=Luó Wénlì; born 1949), also known as Lina Chiam, is a Singaporean former politician. A former member of the opposition Singapore People's Party (SPP), she previously served as the Non-Constituency Member of Parliament between 2011 and 2015 of the 12th Parliament of Singapore. Loh contested in the 2011 and 2015 general elections in Potong Pasir SMC, but lost to the governing People's Action Party's Sitoh Yih Pin in both elections. She was the chairwoman of Singapore People's Party (SPP) between 2012 and 2019 and committee member of Singapore People's Party since 2019. Political career 2011 general election Loh formally entered politics during the 2011 general election when she contested as a SPP candidate in Potong Pasir SMC. Luo or Lo refers to the Mandarin Chinese, Mandarin romanizations of the Chinese surnames wikt:羅, 羅 (Simplified Chinese: wikt:罗, 罗, pinyin: Luó, Jyutping: Lo4) and wikt:駱, 駱 (Simplified Chinese: wikt:骆, 骆, pinyin: Luò, Jyutping: Lok3). The Potong Pasir Single Member Constituency is a Single Member Constituency (SMC) in the central region of Singapore. It is managed by Jalan Besar Town Council. The current Member of Parliament of the constituency is People's Action Party (PAP) Alex Yeo. History During the 1979 by-elections, Chiam See Tong contested in Potong Pasir Constituency as an independent candidate against Howe Yoon Chong, then a new PAP candidate. After submitting his nomination papers in the by-election, Howe dismissed the opposition candidates as "court jesters" who had come out "to provide comic relief". Royal London Hospital
The Royal London Hospital is a large teaching hospital in Whitechapel in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is part of Barts Health NHS Trust. It provides district general hospital services for the City of London and Tower Hamlets and specialist tertiary care services for patients from across London and elsewhere. The Arts House
The Arts House (formerly the Old Parliament House) is a multi-disciplinary arts venue in Singapore. The venue plays host to art exhibitions and concerts. Built in 1827, the Old Parliament House is the oldest government building and perhaps the oldest surviving building in Singapore. The building was home to the Parliament of Singapore from 1965 to 1999, when it moved to an adjacent new building. History The building occupies one of the most historic sites of Singapore. During the refurbishment of the building in 1989, archaeological evidence of older habitation in the area was uncovered with stoneware and earthenware dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries found.
