Limone Vertical Extreme
The Limone Extreme is an international skyrunning competition held for the first time in 2011. It runs every year in Limone sul Garda (Italy) in October and consists of two races SkyRace and Vertical Kilometer both valid for the Skyrunner World Series. Limone Sul Garda
Limone sul Garda ( Gardesano: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy (northern Italy), at the western bank of Lake Garda. History Despite the presence of famous cultivations of lemons (the meaning of in Italian), the town's name is probably derived from the ancient (elm) or (Latin: boundary, referring to the communes of Brescia and the Bishopric of Trento). Between 1863 and 1905 the denomination of the comune was Limone San Giovanni. On 13 September 1786, the famous German poet J. Wolfgang Goethe passed by the village by boat and described with these words its lemon gardens: :''"We passed Limone, the mountain-gardens of which, laid out terrace-fashion, and planted with citron-trees, have a neat and rich appearance. Rémi Bonnet (born 3 March 1995) is a Swiss male ski mountaineer, mountain runner, trail runner and sky runner, who won 2015 Skyrunner World Series in the Vertical Kilometer and 2022 Golden Trail Series. He is also the winner of the 2018 Zegama-Aizkorri race and set a course record in the 2023 Pikes Peak Ascent. He also won the Marathon du mont-blanc with the fastest time in 2023 . Skyrunning Competitions
Skyrunning is a sport of mountain running above where the minimum average incline is 6% over the total distance and at least 5% has an incline of 30% or more. The climbing difficulty does not exceed II grade UIAA. Poles, crampons, and hands may be used to aid progress. The governing body is the International Skyrunning Federation. The sport comprises a number of different disciplines from the short, steep Vertical Kilometer to the more popular SkyRace and SkyMarathon. Ultra SkyMarathons are becoming increasingly popular as are short vertical SkySpeed races which include skyscraper racing. Judith Wyder (born 25 June 1988) is a Swiss orienteering and ski orienteering competitor and runner. Her achievements include gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships and the European Orienteering Championships, both individually and with the Swiss relay team. Biography As a junior, Wyder won World Championship medals in both orienteering and ski orienteering.
