Lily Branscombe
Lily Branscombe (born Lillian Rodman, February 28, 1876 – September 26, 1970) was a stage and film actress from New Zealand. Biography Branscombe was born as Lillian Rodman in Carterton, in the North Island of New Zealand, and educated in New South Wales, Australia. She acted with the Maggie Moore Company in Australia and New Zealand before moving to the United States of America around 1900. There, she acted with the Frawley Company and later in silent films produced by the Essanay Company, opposite stars such as Francis X. Bushman, Bryant Washburn, and John Steppling. She also appeared in a number of episodes of the short comedic film series ''Alkali Ike'' in 1911 and 1912. Personal life In 1900, she married Herbert Ashton in San Francisco. Maggie Moore
Maggie Moore (April 10, 1851 – March 15, 1926) was an American-Australian actress born as Margaret Virginia Sullivan. Moore met and married theatre impresario J. C. Williamson in the U.S. and became popular as an actress in their production of '' Struck Oil'', which premiered in 1873 and was revived many times. Soon after their marriage, they took the play on a tour of Australia. It was such a success that they stayed there, where he founded the most successful theatrical company in Australia, and she became a leading actress. Franklin Bryant Washburn III (April 28, 1889 – April 30, 1963) was an American actor who appeared in more than 370 films between 1911 and 1947. Washburn's parents were Franklin Bryant Washburn II and Metha Catherine Johnson Washburn. He attended Lake View High School in Chicago. Washburn's early acting experience came in stock theater. John Steppling (actor)
John Steppling (8 August 1870 in Essen, Germany – 5 April 1932 in Hollywood, California) was a German-American silent film actor. He moved to America at a young age and entered film in 1912 aged 42. He starred in a total of 230 films between then and 1928, beginning with one of the first feature films ever made, ''Tess of the d'Urbervilles''. He is also credited with directing 7 films. He is the grandfather of playwright John Steppling. ''Alias Billy Sargent'' is a 1912 silent film, silent Drama (film and television), dramatic short film produced by the Essanay Studios and starring Francis X. Bushman. It was distributed by the General Film Company. Plot John Steele is a wholesale jeweler and is visited in his office by diamond broker, Mr. William Sargent. After examining Steele's stock of diamonds, Sargent says he will consider the purchase and make an appointment with him later. Later that night, Sargent phones Steele's home and leaves a message with his wife to have her husband meet him at the Arms Hotel at 8 o'clock. Steele has tickets to the opera, but she forgets to give him the message until after they leave the theater. Her husband is upset until Mrs. Steele hires detectives to trail Sargent and they learn a week later that the "diamond broker" has been arrested for jewel robbery.
