Lilia Vera
Lilia Vera (born October 19, 1951) is a Venezuelan folk singer, whose contemporary folk music range is inspired by traditional Venezuelan genres and songs of protest or social justice. Biography Early years Born in Caracas, Lilia Vera started performing at an early age, singing popular Venezuelan music on local television and radio shows destined for the young audience. As a teenager, she became involved with a variety of social causes early in her life, including civil rights and non-violence. She then turned to singing in public places, colleges and universities in 1972 until becoming part of the Nueva canción, a new song movement of Latin America, which was to spread throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America in the 1970s and 1980s. Nueva Trova
Nueva Trova (, "new trova") is a movement in Cuban music that emerged around 1967–1968 after the Cuban Revolution of 1959, and the consequent political and social changes. Nueva Trova has its roots in the traditional trova, but differs from it because its content is, in the widest sense, political. It combines traditional folk music idioms with 'progressive' and often politicized lyrics. It is related to nueva canción in Latin America, especially Chile and Argentina. Some of the Nueva Trova musicians were also influenced by rock and pop of that time. Atahualpa Yupanqui (; born Héctor Roberto Chavero Aramburu; 31 January 1908 – 23 May 1992) was an Argentine- Spanish singer, songwriter, guitarist, and writer.
