Alan Lightman
Alan Paige Lightman is an American physicist, writer, and social entrepreneur. He has served on the faculties of Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is currently a Professor of the Practice of the Humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Lightman played a major role in establishing MIT's "Communication Requirement," which requires all undergraduates to have training in writing and speaking each of their four years. Lightman was one of the first people at MIT to have a joint faculty position in both the sciences and the humanities. In his thinking and writing, Lightman is known for exploring the intersection of the sciences and the humanities, especially the dialogue between science, philosophy, religion, and spirituality. ''Lie to Me'' (stylized as ''Lie to me*'') is an American crime drama television series. It originally ran on the Fox network from January 21, 2009, to January 31, 2011. In the show, Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) and his colleagues in The Lightman Group accept assignments from third parties (commonly local and federal law enforcement), and assist in investigations, reaching the truth through applied psychology: interpreting microexpressions, through the Facial Action Coding System, and body language. In May 2009, the show was renewed for a second season consisting of 13 episodes; season two premiered on September 28, 2009. On November 24, 2009, Fox ordered an extra nine episodes for season two, bringing the season order to 22 episodes. Harold Lightman
Harold Lightman QC (8 April 1906 in Leeds – 27 September 1998 in London) was an English barrister, who was awarded the unique honour of a dinner at Lincoln's Inn to celebrate his 90th birthday. Early life Harold Lightman was the son of a Lithuanian refugee, who had fled to Leeds, England, and then spent a some time in Australia. He returned to Leeds, married a Scottish-born Jew of German parentage. His father set up a furniture-making business in Leeds. Lightman was educated at the City of Leeds School until he was 14, when he began to get bad headaches. He then worked in his father's factory, and at the age of 18 found out that his headaches were due to myopia and were cured by wearing glasses. Then, while his father was on holiday, he did a good deal for the business; his reward of £100 allowed him to study at evening classes in Leeds, and qualify as an accountant. Stafford Louis Lightman (born 7 September 1948) has been Professor of Medicine, University of Bristol, since 1993. He was president of the British Neuroscience Association 2017–2019. Tasseomancy (band)
Tasseomancy is a Canadian experimental band from Toronto formed by twin sisters Sari and Romy Lightman. Biography Born in c. 1985 and raised in Toronto, the Lightman twins moved to Halifax to attend university. There the sisters began performing under the moniker Ghost Bees that they described as "experimental acoustic folk". The duo released their debut EP ''Tasseomancy'' on April 8, 2008, via Youth Club Records as Ghost Bees. The pair toured around North America in support of the record. Gavin Lightman
Sir Gavin Anthony Lightman (20 December 1939 - 2 March 2020) was a judge of the English High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, since 1994. He retired from office as a High Court judge on 10 January 2008 and was later the chairman of Harbour Litigation Funding's Investment Committee. Big Star
Big Star was an American rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971 by Alex Chilton (vocals, guiar), Chris Bell (vocals, guitar), Jody Stephens (drums), and Andy Hummel (bass). The group broke up in early 1975, and reorganized with a new lineup 18 years later following a reunion concert at the University of Missouri. In its first era, the band's musical style drew on the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Byrds. Big Star produced a style that foreshadowed the alternative rock of the 1980s and 1990s.
