Light Information
''Light Information'' is the sixth studio album by Canadians, Canadian musician Chad VanGaalen. It was released by Flemish Eye in Canada and Sub Pop in the United States on September 8, 2017. While alienation has always been a theme of VanGaalen's music, Light Information draws on a new kind of wisdom – and anxiety – gained as he watches his kids growing up. "Being a parent has given me a sort of alternate perspective, worrying about exposure to a new type of consciousness that's happening through the internet," he says. "I didn't have that growing up, and I’m maybe trying to preserve a little bit of that selfishly for my kids." Background As always, VanGaalen wrote, played, and produced all of the music on ''Light Information'' (save Ryan Bourne's bass part on "Mystery Elementals" and vocals on "Static Shape" from his young daughters, Ezzy and Pip), and designed the cover art. ''The Skinny'' is a 72-page monthly and bi-monthly publication distributed in approximately 1,450 establishments throughout the cities of Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow in Scotland and, from 2013 to 2017, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds in the north of England. Chad VanGaalen (born 1977) is a Canadian musician and artist from Calgary, Alberta. Career ''Infiniheart'' Following a few scattered independent releases, done mostly on homemade CDs with hand-drawn art, VanGaalen released '' Infiniheart'' (2004) on Canadian independent label Flemish Eye. ''Infiniheart'', a collection of songs selected from recordings made in his bedroom/makeshift studio, was picked up in 2005 by indie label Sub Pop. In late 2005, the album was re-released with a bonus six-song EP entitled ''Green Beans''. ''Skelliconnection'' On 22 August 2006, VanGaalen's second album, '' Skelliconnection'', was released in the U.S. on Sub Pop and in Canada on Flemish Eye. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Metacritic is a website that aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review.
