Liga Primera
The Liga Primera de Nicaragua is the top division of football in Nicaragua, organized by the Federación Nicaragüense de Fútbol. It was created in 1933. The league is played in two parts, the ''Torneo de Apertura'' from August through November and ''Torneo de Clausura'' from January through May. Each of the regular seasons is followed by a playoff of the top four teams over a two-legged semifinal and subsequent final. The relegation end has the bottom team of the aggregate table dropped as well as the defeated one from the playoff match between the 8th and 9th-place teams. Nicaraguan Football Federation
The Nicaraguan Football Federation (FENIFUT; ) is the official governing body of association football in Nicaragua. FENIFUT comprises 19 departmental and 153 municipal federations. It oversees all national men's, women's, futsal and youth championships. Deportivo Walter Ferretti
Club Deportivo Walter Ferretti is a Nicaraguan association football, football team who play in the Primera División de Nicaragua, Nicaraguan Premier Division. They are based in Managua. History The club was founded in 1984 on the initiative of Walter Ferretti Fonseca. Its intention was to serve as the sporting wing of the Sandinista Police, and it initially competed in an institutional league for government ministries. Later, the team moved into the Nicaraguan league system. At that time, they competed under the name of DGPS (''Dirección General de La PolÃcia Sandinista''). DGPS stormed through the lower levels of the Nicaraguan league system, winning the Second Division in 1985 with an undefeated record. Diriamba is a city and a municipality in the Carazo department of Nicaragua, with a population of 65,243 (2022 estimate). It is located 41 km south of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. Ocotal
Ocotal () is the capital of the Nueva Segovia Department in Nicaragua, Central America and the municipal seat of Ocotal Municipality. History The region occupied by the city of Ocotal was formerly occupied by different ethnic groups that had probably migrated from Mexico to Central America many centuries ago, speaking a variety of Nahuatl. The gold deposits that were found on the banks of the Choluteca River and other places, motivated the establishment of Spanish settlements. The city was founded in 1543 under the name of Nueva Segovia but this was later changed to Ocotal, a Nahuatl word that means "pine resin". In 1927, Ocotal suffered one of the first dive bombing attacks in history during a battle that pitted the American Marines and the Nicaraguan National Guard against Sandinista rebels. Matagalpa () is a city in Nicaragua which is the capital of the department of Matagalpa. The city has a population of 112,697 (2022 estimate), while the population of the department is 606,643. Matagalpa is Nicaragua's seventh largest city, the largest in the country's interior, and one of the most commercially active outside of Managua. Club sport Sébaco is a Nicaraguan football team currently playing in the Nicaraguan Primera División. They are based in Sebaco. History The club was founded in 2018 as H&H Export Sébaco FC. The club was founded to replace the defunct team Deportivo Sébaco. In 2021, Sébaco won promotion to the Primera Division for the very first time by defeating Chinandega FC in a promotion relegation playoff 5–3 on aggregate.
