Liga ASOBAL 2010–11
Liga ASOBAL 2010–11 season was the 21st since its establishment. Ciudad Real were the defending champions, having won their 5th La Liga title in the previous season. The campaign began on Saturday, 11 September 2010. The league was originally scheduled to end on 21 May 2011. A total of 16 teams contested the league, 14 of which had already been contested in the 2009–10 season, and two of which were promoted from the División de Plata. Barcelona Borges won their tenth ASOBAL title. Liga ASOBAL
Liga Asobal is the premier professional handball league in Spain. It was founded in 1958 with the name of División de Honor, changing its name to the current name in 1990. The Liga ASOBAL, which is played under EHF rules, currently consists of 16 teams, including famous ones like FC Barcelona, Ademar León, Bidasoa and Granollers. BM Granollers
Club Balonmano Granollers, commonly known as BM Granollers, is a professional handball club based in Granollers, Spain. History The club was founded in 1944 and it is one of the oldest and most successful Spanish handball clubs in terms of titles won. Since its inception, the club quickly got a great competitive level. BM Granollers has competed almost every season in the top league of Spanish handball (currently Liga ASOBAL). It became the first Spanish handball club taking part in a European competition in 1959. BM Granollers won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 1976, so it became the first Spanish handball club winning a European title. CB Torrevieja played in the Liga ASOBAL until the 2011/2012 season, after which it disbanded due to financial problems. Abanca Ademar León is a Spanish handball team based in León, Spain. It plays in Liga ASOBAL. History Founded in 1956, Ademar León is the handball team of the city of León. Until 1975 it played in the provincial categories when not existing economic availability to be able to promotion. In that year the team promoted to 1ª División Nacional (being player of the team the currently chairman, Juan Arias). Sociedad Deportiva Cultural San Antonio was a Spanish handball team based in Pamplona, Navarra. In July 2012, the team resigned from the Liga ASOBAL for the 2012–13 season due to the failure to find a new sponsor, being demoted two divisions (to Primera Estatal). After an uncertain few weeks, its spot in Primera Estatal was transferred to BM Ardoi, therefore, the club no longer owned any sporting team.
