Liga ASOBAL 1996–97 season was the seventh since its establishment. The league was played in a round-robin format through 30 rounds. The team with most points earned was the champion. On the contrary, teams from 14th to 16th were relegated and teams in 12th and 13th position had to play the in–out playoff. Liga ASOBAL
Liga Asobal is the premier professional handball league in Spain. It was founded in 1958 with the name of División de Honor, changing its name to the current name in 1990. The Liga ASOBAL, which is played under EHF rules, currently consists of 16 teams, including famous ones like FC Barcelona, Ademar León, Bidasoa and Granollers. BM Granollers
Club Balonmano Granollers, commonly known as BM Granollers, is a handball club based in Granollers, Spain. History The club was founded in 1944 and it is one of the oldest and most successful Spanish handball clubs in terms of titles won. Since its inception, the club quickly got a great competitive level. BM Granollers has competed almost every season in the top league of Spanish handball (currently Liga ASOBAL). It became the first Spanish handball club taking part in a European competition in 1959. BM Granollers won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 1976, so it became the first Spanish handball club winning a European title. Dragan Škrbić
Dragan Škrbić (; born 29 September 1968) is a Serbian former handball player. He was named the 2000 IHF World Player of the Year. Club career Over the course of his career that spanned over two decades, Škrbić played for Jugović, Crvena zvezda (1988–1993), Atlético Madrid (1993–1994), Alzira (1994–1995), Ademar León (1995–1997), VfL Hameln (1997–1998), Celje (1998–2000), HSG Nordhorn (2000–2002) and Barcelona (2002–2007).
